My first foray into @adventuresinpartaking ‘s AMAZING new cookbook - ‘My Paleo AIP Indian Adventure. [Click on the link in my profile to check it out!]
🌱
If you are one of those peeps who thinks spicy foods are off the table when you are on AIP, think again! Bethany has outdone herself with this little gem of a cookbook. Every bite packs a punch.
🌱
Clockwise from L-R: • AIP Chapatis (a revelation!) • Simple Saag (my FAVOURITE. Just loved this baby) • Coriander Chutney (for EXTRA kick!) • Spiced Lamb Kebabs (Just as good for snackage the next day)
🌱
I can’t wait to experiment more with these Indian recipes. Chicken Tikka Masala with Coconut Turmeric Rice and Roti, anyone…?
🌱
[note to self: may be time to retire the Christmas table cloth for a few months!]

Hash de Jour. Here’s my hash of the day - bacon, roasted kumara (sweet potato), onion and chard all cooked in some happy fat. Simple and seriously tasty. It’s also 100% #AIP elimination compliant.
🌱
Oh - and #justquietly, I am SO loving my @mudaustralia bowls. Eating from them makes me happy… #simplepleasures, yes?
🌱
Three cheers for hash.

NEW #ontheblog: Chilled Out Summer Lettuce Soup.
🌱
While you lot up there in the northern hemisphere have been experiencing extreme cold and bomb cyclones, down under we've been having a heat wave of epic proportions.
🌱
Last year was the hottest on record for Sydney and 2018 is starting with record highs, too…
🌱
That means instead of my hot #healinggreenbroth, I've been having this chilled Summer Lettuce Soup [link in profile] as a way to max' out on my nutrients via leafy greens and bone broth.
🌱
I’m kind of loving it!
🌱
Perhaps something to pin for when the temperatures start soaring again in your neck of the woods if it’s still brass monkeys…?

One of the MOST popular recipes on rotation around here is Kate Jay’s Sautéed Chicken Livers with Riced Cauliflower, Collards and Herbs. It’s what we had for dinner last night. Frankly, this recipe ROCKS!
🌱
In case you didn’t already know, the gorgeous Kate from @healingfamilyeats is a regular recipe contributor over at the @autoimmunepaleo blog - which is where you’ll find this little tasty and nutrient dense number. I’ve put a link to it in my profile, too - so there’s no excuse for checking it out!.
🌱
I tell you - after you’ve had a plate of this über-good-for-you baby, you’ll feel like you’re feeding your body with goodness… #seriously

Have you signed up to our @consciousautoimmunity newsletter yet?
🌱
As I’m undertaking a reset along with our January AIP Reset team this month, I’ve been playing around with a wee AIP-friendly sweet treat to indulge after dinner now that my beloved dark chocolate is off the table.
🌱
My AIP Reset partners-in-crime have told me they want the recipe, so this is an early iteration of the gummy recipe that will be going out on the Conscious Autoimmunity blog later this week.
🌱
Just making the final tweaks...

HAPPY NEW YEAR from my wee corner of the world…
🌱
This baby was the final course of our meal last night (thought I should push the boat out for my Mum and Dad…) It’s a @coyo_is_coconuts coconut yogurt mousse with cucumber jelly, honeydew melon balls and lime syrup.
🌱
I reckon it almost looks like a bought one!
🌱
Strictly speaking, a little too much sugar to be #aip, but otherwise all compliant.
🌱
Now for #aipreset!

The 25th December is a BIG day at our place - Among all the traditional celebrations, we also have Bella’s birthday!
🐩
This year it was ESPECIALLY significant because she turned 13.
🐩
She’s holding up pretty well for an old duck. She doesn’t hear much any more, but otherwise she’s like a spring chicken…
🐩
This is the birthday girl cuddled up to her birthday-toy (minus the eyes which were forcibly removed less than 5 minutes after receiving it).
🐩
Hope your 25th was as fab’ as Bella’s - wherever you are...

Look who I found wandering the streets of Sydney - It’s @johnnygrrr and @thepaleopi!
🌱
They popped in en route to Canberra for a spot of brekkie before they hit the road.
🌱
We dined on: • @thepaleomom’s Perfect Paleo Pancakes. #sogood@lingalongafarmwingham bacon cooked on the barbecue • fresh mango
🌱
Just lovely having the boys come to visit, in Rory’s case - twice in one trip!
🌱
Gotta’ love Christmas in Sydney!

This is some of my Christmas kraut. Red cabbage, carrot, beet and apple with some orange, cinnamon, cloves and dried cranberries. It’s a little bit tart and a teeny bit sweet. And, it’s bloody good for you as well as being festive!
🌱
Kind of the perfect foodie gift from a health coach, don’t you reckon?
🌱
Just finished packaging these babies up ready to go to some of the good New South Wales farmers and makers that have kept David, Bella and me fed SO well over the past year.
🌱
Last market for 2017 at @carriageworksfarmersmarket on Saturday. I’ll miss it come January when the farmers take some (well earned! 😊 ) time out...

My parents arrive form New Zealand tomorrow I’m feeling very Christmassy!
🌱
My lovely Mum has even made a marzipan topped, grain-free Christmas cake for me. Merry Christmas to me…
🌱
Not strictly AIP, though. (I provided the recipe and I know exactly what’s in it!) 🌱
One way to get into the AIP-friendly Christmas spirit is with my AIP Christmas mince. Perfect for tarts and over dairy-free ice-cream I think it’s one of my recipes that I am most proud of. It tastes REALLY good, too!
🌱
Am I imagining things, or are Christmas mince pies not a thing in the U.S.? I wonder why that is when they taste so AMAZEBALLS.
🌱
I asked Mr Google about the origins of Chrissie mince pies. Apparently, Middle Eastern methods of cooking, which sometimes combined meats, fruits and spices, were popular at the time of origin. Pies were created from mixtures of sweet and savoury foods; in Tudor England, shrid pies (as they were known then) were formed from shredded meat, suet and dried fruit.
🌱
These babies are completely free of animal protein - including suet. The secret ingredient in my mincemeat is banana!
🌱
Are you a fan of Chrissie mince pies…?

These are my Christmas Golden Balls - christened by my brother-in-law a few years back when I first gave him a sample.
🌱
Steve (the BIL) loves them so much they have become part of my Christmas repertoire - little choc’, berry and spice-infused balls of goodness, dipped in chocolate and then garnished with a touch of golden goodness.
🌱
This wee jar is a gift for my FABULOUS hairdresser, Shane at @noddysonkinghair. He requested them. Seems like Steve isn’t the only fan…
🌱
Shane doesn’t know it yet, but he’s giving me a BIG chop this afternoon. The humidity we’re having here in Sydney-town SO doesn’t agree with me (or my hair!).
🌱
Here’s to short hair and Christmas traditions. Cheers!

This week over #ontheblog it’s time for the annual round up of my best foodie posts for 2017.
🌱
It’s always fascinating to see the recipes that receive the most love, and to compare with the previous year’s winners. 🌱
2017 brought a couple of surprises - not least because it’s REALLY pleasing that it’s not just the sweet treats that for all the love.
🌱
I’d love you to head on over to check out the top 10… and, I’d DOUBLY love to know your favourite, too. [link in profile]
