On September 22, 2018 The Community Initiatives of NC will hold its First Annual Mental Health Conference with this year’s theme being, "The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste: Unveiling the myths and mysteries of Mental Illness”. The Community Initiatives of NC is dedicated to helping all people live mentally healthier lives. We have the opportunity to showcase a screening of the documentary When Harlem Saved A King. This documentary unravels the story of the attempted assassination of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by a demented African American woman who was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Following the documentary we will partake in a powerful panel discussion followed by a Q&A.
