JH Conservation Alliance  Protecting the wildlife, wild places, and community character of Jackson Hole

These girls are amazing and sold out of all their baked goods during their Endangered Species Bake Sale over the weekend. They decided to donate the profits from their sale to the Alliance in support of local wildlife.

Thanks for being great young leaders and caring about our wildlife, girls!

In anticipation of the wildlife crossings volunteer meeting this evening, we want to introduce you to some of the folks behind the new campaign push thus far, so meet Natalie Connell!

“I love this area and have been happy to call it home for the last eight years. I'm a graphic designer, and enjoy rock climbing, snowboarding, and making art when I'm not working. My biggest draw to wildlife crossings came about when I began to understand habitat connectivity. Wildlife needs to be able roam large areas in order to maintain health and survival. The very least we can do is allow them to pass safely through our communities and roads.”

Meet Natalie and other volunteers and learn more about the campaign to bring a network of safe wildlife crossings to Jackson Hole at tonight's volunteer meeting. The meeting is from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Alliance. Snacks will be provided by @holefoodrescue.

Hope to see you tonight!

The sale is from 4 to 6pm at Spring Creek Animal Hospital, and the girls are donating some of their proceeds to the Alliance.

We can't think of anything SWEETER!

Always been curious about the Safe Wildlife Crossings campaign but never had a chance to join us? We have the perfect meeting for you! •

This coming Tuesday, May 23rd, we are launching the next phase of our wildlife crossings campaign. The meeting will include a summary of the campaign and how it fits into larger habitat and migration corridor concerns for volunteers old and new to get up to speed. We also have a lot of upcoming projects for which we'd love to get input and support! •

Questions? Contact Marisa Wilson at marisa@jhalliance.org. •

Hope to see all you wildlife lovers there!

Another great photo shared by @jacksonholeecotours!

This bear is walking through the Berry Creek Burn area from last summer. Wildfire facilitates wildlife habitat by opening up the forest canopy and fertilizing the soils with ash, creating a bounty for years to come. •
Since you likely want to protect your habitat (home) from wildfire, check out wildneighborhoods.org for tips on how to make your home safer against wildfire. •

Happy mother's day to all the best mothers out there!

Spotted on a recent @jacksonholeecotours tour was this red fox. Red foxes are beginning to shed their winter coats in favor of a sleek, light summer coat. We are guessing you have too! Enjoy the 🌞!

Nearly every one of us has seen wildlife killed after trying to cross the road. But there’s a tragic reality to wildlife-vehicle collisions that fortunately most of us never experience. On Saturday, April 29, 2017, representatives from the @greateryellowstone, @jhalliance, and @jhwildlifefoundation joined @wygameandfish (WGFD) Wildlife Biologist Gary Fralick to survey winter deer mortality along Highway 89 south of Jackson. None of the participants could have envisioned witnessing an event that brought the poignancy of the wildlife-vehicle issue into vivid focus, but within minutes of starting the survey, they experienced an emotional interaction with one of this winter’s latest casualties. While on vacation, many travelers enjoy finding a hidden gem of a coffee shop, enjoying a local delicacy, or exploring a new trail or park For those that care about wildlife, though, sometimes spotting the construction of new wildlife crossings on their road trip can be just as exciting.

Check out these new beauties Alliance Operations Manager @wyodawn spotted on her recent trip through Nevada. These structures make it safer and easier for wildlife to cross our roads, which helps protect migration corridors, while simultaneously making it safer for you and your family as well.

Think we need a network of wildlife crossings in Teton County? We do too.

Huge thanks to all the community members who took the time to vote and speak up for our community's future in the SPET Special Election. You can read the Alliance comments on the results on our blog (link in bio). #jhalliance #votejh #SPET2017
