This past weekend, I got to see the remnants of the 'Majestic Michigan' - a once opulent movie theatre, now turned parking garage. Built in 1926 at a cost of $3.5 million (which would now be equivalent to $60 million). I was in such awe at the beauty and grandeur of it, even in its current state... I can only imagine stepping into the lobby in its heyday with its marble archways and 10 foot crystal chandeliers to see the likes of Frank Sinatra and Greta Grable perform. The reason for its decline? The rise of television in the 1960s.
