My first full marathon training cycle has been far from perfect. A severe case of IT band syndrome took me out of running completely for most of January and half of February- a time when my training for the @lamarathon should have been peaking. I can now say that taking that month and a half off (from running, there was plenty of cross training!) was the BEST thing I could have done for my body. I was cleared to run again less than 2 weeks ago and today I ran a strong and [injury] pain free 20 MILES! I am so grateful to the @laleggers for the beautiful run this morning. Second midweek run last night. Was planning 6 miles but had to cut it short because the knee was starting to ache again and that’s while running on the slow side to take it easy. How am I going to get back up to marathon mileage?! #marathontraining #injuredrunner #sad 😰😢😫😡
