I hate sharing the weight part of this, but oh well. It makes me more accountable.
I've been #LCHF for a little over a month and I've lost 18.2 lbs. Crazy (and awesome). 🙌🏻
I've been struggling this past week because I was recently diagnosed with #PCOS and I was put on a new drug to combat insulin resistance. The drug is called #Metformin and it's the worst drug I've ever taken in my life!!!
It makes me so sick. 🤢 My OBGYN warned me I'd be sick until I got used to it. I started out with half a pill and I'm up to 1 pill now. I still have to get up to 2 pills before I'm at my full dosage, which means I'll be sick for a while. Being so sick to my stomach makes me crave all the carbs. So far, I haven't given in.
In other news, because of all my health problems I mentioned in my first LCHF post, I'm having a hysterectomy on April 26 and a tonsillectomy on May 18. My #LCHF lifestyle is going great. I'm seeing results which is helping keep me motivated. I had an appointment with Elevate Fitness and Rehab this past week and my ketone level was at .9 mmol/L. The optimal range is 1.5-3.0 mmol/L so I'm almost fat-adapted, meaning my body burns fat as fuel instead of carbs. #keto #ketosis PS: don't mind the typo in my tweet. #cursethetypogods

I wasn't going to say anything about this except to a few people, but I've decided I want to talk about it since it's such a huge part of my life right now.
I've been really sick lately. I've had more sick days since Christmas than healthy ones. I was sick a lot last year too. I've also struggled with my weight for a long time, especially since my mom passed away 3.5 years ago. I was close to 220 lbs. at that time and I've skyrocketed to almost 300 lbs. I currently weigh more than my husband.
I'm embarrassed about all my failed attempts to lose weight. So I don't talk about it a lot anymore AND when I start a new thing, I usually keep it to myself until I'm down like 40 lbs.
I went to the doctor a little over a week ago because I was so sick again. Not only did he put me on antibiotics for an infection, but he put me on a new diet (lifestyle change) as well. He's having me do a low-carb high-fat (LCHF) or keto diet. Basically sugar causes people to gain weight not fat. My diet is 80% fat (from any natural source, including animal products), 15% protein, and 5% carbs. I'll be able to increase my carbs a little bit (10-15%) once I reach my goal weight and health.
I've been on this diet since Sunday. It takes a while for people to get used to the diet because your body isn't used to burning fat for energy. I've been sluggish, tired, and crabby as hell. But, I started to feel a bit better on Thursday and I keep feeling better each day. I've already lost 10.8 lbs.
I love the foods I'm eating. I only crave carbs/sugar at night. I either ignore it or I’ve found a few things I can eat to help (a few berries with heavy whipping cream is my favorite 😋).
It's hard because of how I've felt and because I feel like I'm doing nothing but working, sleeping, and cooking. But, I think this will be good for me.
It's supposed to help with Diabetes (I'm borderline), Fibromyalgia, and depression. I'm really excited to not get Diabetes, manage my pain from Fibromyalgia, and manage my depression better AND get off most, if not all, of my meds. #ketodiet #lchfdiet

Today, @xtinaluvalot gave me this book. She found it at a thrift bookshop and thought I should have it even if I don't read it, lol. I agree with her because LLAMA! But, it actually sounds like something I might enjoy. I ❤️ the chapter headings! Thank you, Christina! #llamalover

Here's my March #tbr . I've already started THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR. I'm very curious how this one will end. I'll read CODE NAME VERITY after that because I have it out from the library AND it's March's book club read. We'll see how I do with the other books, lol. #bookstagram

Here's what I read for February.
Three observations: 1) I'm a mood reader and I've been in the mood to read psychological thrillers. 2) I checked two of these out from the library and I was on a waitlist so when it was my turn, my other planned reads went out the window. 3) I've been busy and sick for most of February. Busy = no reading time. Sick = no reading time. I hate reading when I'm sick.
