Sitting in a jury duty waiting room in LA overhearing a guy loudly complain on the phone about how bored he is. Meanwhile, I'm just editing photos of flowers and listening to Khalid to keep myself zen & enjoying this small detour in my everyday routine. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Finding beauty in every day ordinary places. 💛

It's amazing how much joy a couple of little flowers can bring me. 🌸🌸

The city of Warsaw had been leveled by destruction after WWII. With Poland's Jewish community almost entirely wiped out, tombstones from hundreds of Jewish cemeteries in Poland were destroyed & used to pave roads and put up walls. Sadly, it was discovered during a restoration project that part of the Warsaw Zoo was rebuilt using Jewish tombstones. It was heartbreaking to see the Matzevot of my ancestors treated like they were simply unimportant building materials. Many of these discovered tombstones are awaiting the aid of a beautiful project funded by the city of Warsaw and a joint US-Israeli-Polish nonprofit organization who are working to digitally archive, replace, and eventually restore & return them to their rightful resting places.

Last month I took an unforgettable trip to Warsaw, Poland. @FocusFeatures hired me to join them on a visit to the Warsaw Zoo ahead of the release of their film, @TheZookeepersWife, where we learned about the heroics of the zoo’s operators, Antonina and Jan Żabiński. During World War II Antonia and Jan made the dangerous decision to help Jews escape from the Warsaw ghetto by hiding them around the zoo and in the basement of their villa (pictured here) until they could be safely relocated elsewhere. Their efforts resulted in more than 300 Jewish lives spared from the Holocaust. 🙏🏻 As a Jewish woman whose family fled the war, and whose husband’s Grandmother bares the branding of her time at Auschwitz, seeing a true tale of bravery and selflessness during such a dark time in our history was inspiring. It’s not easy to find courage when faced with evil, but Antonia’s story gave me hope that good people like her can & will prevail. If you’re in need of a film about shining light into the darkness I highly recommend seeing #TheZookeepersWife when it comes to theaters next Friday.

Light & shadows & movement. 🏊🏻‍♀️

Sunsets from the Gulf of California are somethin' else. 🌄

Heading in to the weekend like…

Spent the last few days fighting a crazy painful sinus infection & a side of post-cruise vertigo. Finally starting to recover, though I still feel like I'm on a boat from time to time. I've got quite a few more photos from Mexico to share now that I'm able to look at a screen & use my brain for more than 3 minutes! 🤧

This arch is where Baja California ends. I wish all endings were this beautiful. 🌊🚤🦑

Buy body is back in America but my heart is still in Baja. And my stomach is somewhere in the Gulf of California. 🤢😜
