Day 10: MIGRANT
My life has been marked by traveling/sojourning, living in new places and making it home. The ease with which I’m able to leave and settle is unmistakeable.
.
.
In London I’m asked if I’ll transition to being an expat but I’m not called an immigrant. It makes me pause, this thing we do with language and accents.
.
.
I’m aware and thankful for these privileges often withheld for many. And while I may not be able to be on the ground I can still support organizations like @preemptivelove Especially in light of this season celebrating the birth of Jesus... a migrant child born to asylum seekers. #adventurewithus18 #misshumaexplores

Day 9: PEACE
Current peace practice: living in a gray city with a rainbow heart and the mantra below. .
.
People come together
Strangers, neighbours
Our blood is one
Children of generations
Of every nation
Of kingdom come

Day 7 & 8 BREATHE & TRUST .
.
Some of my favorite moments have been with this guy. But the best thing thing about my brother is how big his heart is. I’ve learned a lot about forgiveness from this one. Happy birthday brother dear, breathe in this next year of adventure. I love life with you! #adventurewithus18

Day 7: WELCOME
Working with lino is a full body experience. My shoulders hunch, the repetitive motion of peeling back layers with tool gripped tight between my fingers. The printing over and over again until it’s right.
.
.
You are here. Emphatic truth for every one of us with breathe in our lungs. This one printed easy. I’d made it bigger. It made sense.
.
.
You belong here. This took a few mostly messy attempts, but I like the work that shows. A truth we work out with faithful clumsy attempt...nonetheless a truth. #misshumaexplores #adventurewithus18

Day 6: JUSTICE
Justice often looks a lot like showing up
.
.
And jumping in .
.
And swimming out.

Day 5: WELCOME
A short list of things that have inspired a sense of being welcome: —cooking for/with others
—finding/making community —doing life with my flatmate —documenting life as it happens

Day 4: STATEMENT
I don’t know where conflict comes from. Maybe it rises up because the world is messy, we do life with others and sometimes it’s hard. We war with fear. We get unsettled with the feeling that this isn’t how it’s supposed to be. .
.
Looking down the stream of my life I recognize the steady current of pacifism. I’m happy to dialogue about what that is for me. Of all the things I’ve been told it is, it’s not passivity, not a lack of passion or intelligence but a desire for peace. .
.
So friends, today, may peace be our gift, may we find it holding vigil for our hearts. WAGE PEACE.
Love, your friendly neighborhood optimist Lynn 🙌🏿. #misshumaexplores #adventurewithus18

Day 3: Anticipation.
There’s a lot that happens in my sketchbook/studio. I put things together and tear it apart. Fleeting bursts of brilliance but mostly a lot of rubbish work, leaky thoughts and working at the knot.
.
.
My brother once told me to fail often and to fail quickly. Then it doesn’t become this enormous fear to carry around. Just another step on the way to success. To fail is to show effort-an attempt.
.
.
We don’t expect to fail. It doesn’t mean we are failures, it means something we tried didn’t work. Try again. Anticipate the fruit of your efforts

It’s Veterans Day back home and Remembrance Day here. Both honor those who served/serve in war. .
.
Remembrance day specifically, commemorates the formal end to WWI hostilities. People in the commonwealth wear red poppies to honor the members of their armed forces who died and served in the war. This year is the 100th year since the armistice signing. .
.
In addition, white poppies can be worn in remembrance for ALL victims of war, as a commitment to peace and a challenge to the glamorisation of conflict.
.
.
Rupi Kaur-the poet I’m holding-said, “To hate is an easy lazy thing. But to love takes strength everyone has but not all are willing to practice.”
.
.
May we have the courage and the patience to practice love. #weshallovercome

Tonight, the Super Trouper lights are gonna find me
Shining like the sun
Smiling, having fun
Feeling like a number one
.
.
Bringing back the seventies tonight with these queens.

The rain led me inside to fill my mind with books.
.
.
What a lovely reminder that its always a nice day above the clouds.
