Low calories work no question about that but and there’s always a but. Good luck sustaining that for any length of time before bingeing and being back at the start.

Getting injured and not being able to train at all can sometimes feel like the end of the world. Quite rightly so as for most of us gym is life haha
#
Fat Gain, Muscle Loss and strength Loss will almost certainly happen to some degree with big lay offs.
#
I’m currently out with a back injury at the moment and may miss 8-10 weeks or so.
#
This was me at the start of the year though. Gos to show that it doesn’t take long to shed the fat off and get back in great shape.
#
Lessons have been learnt from this process and weak muscles will be strengthened to for a proper foundation for my physique.
#
I will be back next year leaner, more athletic and hopefully add some mass in time.

The Bench press is an amazing move to help build mass/strength in the upper body when done properly!

There’s a bit more to it than just laying flat and pressing up and down!

Things to think about!
Feet position
Hand width
Elbow position
Bar path
Range of motion
Tempo
#
✅ Feet planted, drive through heels. ✅Hands just passed shoulder width, varies from person to person .
✅Elbows tucked to 45 degrees to take shoulders out of the move. Retract shoulders blades also.
✅Bar path, very important! Starting with the bar above your shoulders, lower at an angle to the lower chest, pause and drive back up at the same angle.
✅ROM, when doing any exercise use a full range of motion, come down and touch the chest, pause then drive back up to the beginning.
✅Tempo, control the rep on the way down, pause at the bottom then explode back up!

We all have that 1 body part that beats the rest hands down. The 1 we love to train as we’re dam good at it and can go heavier than the rest.
#
Well these strong points generally lead to massive weak points elsewhere which I have rudely found out this last week.
#
For having a dam strong upper back the bottom has only gone and went on me.
#
Don’t neglect the smaller muscles! Lower back, abs etc. These really are the foundation that should come first then build on top of these.
#
So more time out for me. Always a positive from this though. Daily mobility from now on, Abs 2-3 times a week. More focus on lower back and glute exercise also. I will be back stronger!

We just re done his bodyfat and we’re sitting at 17%. Our next goal is to crack the 15% before Xmas if possible. Take a little maintenance break then go hard to reach our target of 10% then it will be time to add some mass!

If you want it that badly you will do whatever it takes!! Just like Stuart had done!
