Foam rollers are so passé, it's all about that heavy metal! All jokes aside, this is a great drill before hitting snatches. Holding a deep squat use the weight of the bar to roll your quads and forearms. Do you sit all day and then wonder why you have pain when you go and hit the squat rack? Do you have pain in your hip joint when you go Ass to grass? Chances are your hip flexors have been shortened all day and you lack the proper amount of internal hip rotation to go into a deep squat. When the hips go past 90 degrees the piriformis switches from being an external hip rotator to an internal hip rotator. Using the Swiss ball shown here you can stretch the hip flexors and put the femur into internal rotation by pushing your leg away from you. This was a fun but surprisingly difficult movement. It starts with a reverse grip row into a good morning.
