I don’t share a lot about myself on Instagram anymore, but I have some things to say today.
1. MOUTHWASH was just an idea that you all are turning into a reality. We still are trying to figure out if our accomplishments are part of a really long dream that we haven’t awaken from yet, but we’ll keep going because it keeps getting better. Our gallery had a line out the door (it’s cold in Chicago y’all crazy) and over 300 people came out to show love. The magazine is completely sold out as of this weekend. And the our podcast is being listened to all over the world. Thank you for being part of it. The encouragement keeps us going.
2. Today I start a new job as an Art Director at a creative studio that I’ve admired for quite some time, @wearematteblack. So thankful for this opportunity and ready to continue learning, growing, and discovering more of who I am through that experience.
3. I know that Los Angeles looks good on paper but in all honesty, the last 6 months of 2017 were the most difficult of my life. I’ve never dealt with as much anxiety, loneliness, or feeling a lack of direction. I moved to LA thinking that all my problems would be solved automatically without mentally preparing for it. But those things are changing, and the last 3 months have been some of the best of my life. I finally am taking my mental health seriously & being honest with myself and others about how I’m feeling.
And while things have been hard, that doesn’t mean we’re standing still. My friends are thriving, moves are being made, and like I said at the end of last year, we’re far from being finished.
