The new moon made for an extremely dark sky and allowed us to feel extra close to the stars. I layed there and watched each one of them slowly disappear as the sun came up over the Appalachians. Not a bad way to spend the last night of summer, welcoming fall and all of it's beautiful colors. I'm always blown away by the magic of nature and its neverending display of beauty. Climb a mountain and soak it up, it'll do wonders for your soul.
After taking a few months off, it felt really good to get back on the Appalachian Trail and knock out 18 miles into North Carolina. Watching the sunset and the moonrise from this magical spot wasn't too bad either. Thank you nature.
