We are excited to introduce and welcome Quantane L Higginbotham to IT TAKES TWO, INC's 2019-2021 Board of Directors! Meet her below: “Volunteerism runs deep in my soul and as long as I live, I will continue to give of myself to others by speaking up for those who feel that they do not have a voice...primarily children and their families.” ~ Quantane
Born in Washington, DC and raised in Prince George's County, Maryland, Quantane Higginbotham, also known as ‘Q’, has been an advocate for children and education for over 20 years. She is a mom of five and a grandmother of three.
Advocacy began at home after her son was placed in an Individualized Education Program. With no knowledge or understanding of the IEP process, Quantane knew she had to be able to advocate for her child. During this process, she noticed that there was a greater need to advocate for other children than just her own.
Quantane’s first advocacy role began in 2005 when she became a Court Appointed Special Advocate for the State of Maryland. She served in this role for over 10 years in St. Mary's, Charles, and Prince George's Counties. Serving as a CASA was only the beginning. With a greater call to serve, she became heavily involved with PTA and PTSA.
Quantane currently serves as the President of the Charles Herbert Flowers High School PTSA, is the Chair of the Prince George's County Advocates for Better Schools (PGCABS) Steering Committee, and the Assistant Secretary of Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee for the Prince George’s County Public Schools (SECAC-PG). Quantane is a Realtor with Exit Landmark Realty in White Plains, Maryland. Her educational background is in elementary education and legal studies. "I am excited to become a member of the board of directors for IT TAKES TWO, INC and look forward to servicing the needs of our community." “I have been an advocate for children and education for over 20 years. I support IT TAKES TWO, INC because I see that this organization puts their words into action. IT TAKES TWO, INC has provided scholars, in single-family households, the opportunity for a better future and a quality education.” Please send a warm welcome! #ITTAKESTWO
