As a person with dermatophagia, I release stress by gnawing at my cuticles around my fingers. It is similar to people who obsessively pull out their head, eyelash, and eyebrow hairs. It's a compulsive disorder I've tried to resist all of my life, but it's more difficult than that. I'll do it without even being conscious of my actions! I'll bite them to the point of bleeding and causing me pain for a couple days. 😿 Hence the bandaid in this photo. I have always suffered with this but for the most part kept it from the internet. There have been times over the years that I have edited the wounds from my fingers in selfies, or been too self conscious to feature my hands at all in a photo... I think that it is so important to be honest about now though. There are so many people with different mental disorders. I'm one of them. You're not alone. 💙💚💛💜 All we can do is strive for self love and find more peace with ourselves daily. Seek help if you need it and try to keep yourself healthy. #mentalhealthawareness #dermatophagia #bfrbawareness #bfrb #dermatillomania I used @ardell_lashes wispies and @maybelline eyebrow powder for freckles.
