#trainwithdesifit ✌🏼 izzza leg day.

Here are 3 exercise part of my current leg routine:
▫️cable squat into rdl : 3-4 sets for 15-10 reps muscles targeted → glutes, hamstring & quads.
▫️ cable pull through: 4 x 12, muscles targeted → glutes.
▫️leg push downs: 4 x 20 per side, muscles targeted → quads.

Many women struggle to hit their quads because of fear of looking too bulky. But let me debunk this myth! Strong quads are actually very important to reduce the risk of lower back injury and to support your joints! So please, do your research🤓 and don’t simply believe to what the latest instastar is telling ya!

This transformation did NOT happen overnight but it’s the result of 2 years of hard work. Not only at the gym, but also in the kitchen and mostly in my mind.

I had to reconsider everything I thought about fitness, about women and sports, about food. Because:
-NO, food is NOT the enemy.
-NO, carbs will not make you gain weight.
-NO, lifting weights will not make you muscular.

On the other hand:
-Food is MY FUEL.
-Carbs are essential for energy and muscle growth.
-Weightlifting has shaped my body like no other routine.

This is also the result of seeing working out as a BLESSING, not a chore. Because I am blessed to be able to MOVE MY BODY.
It is also the result of working out FOR FUN! Yes, your heard me! I don’t workout because I hate my body but on the contrary because I LOVE IT. And yes, weightlifting makes me feel a badass 💥 but I also do circuit training because I enjoy it as a form of cardio and resistance training.

For me, fitness is about SELF LOVE, EMPOWERMENT, BADASSERYYY! And I, wouldn’t do it any other way.

By the way ladies... the number on the scale in these 2 pictures is exactly the same! 🤯 Proof that it’s just a number and we should never ever rely on it as a measure of our progress. And while we are at it, if I have to be honest, the most important progress cannot be pictured. Because, FINDING TRUE BALANCE is the real deal.💁🏻‍♀️ 🎤 .

A day in my 👩🏻‍🍳 kitchen.

When embracing a lifestyle change, working out is probably the easiest part. What many truly struggle with is clean eating.

Eating clean should never, ever be boring, otherwise you’ll most likely quit. 90% of my meals are super clean, but I do enjoy treats 🍦🍫every now and then with moderation.
Here’s an example of #whatieatinaday:
M1 – French toast🍞 with a healthy twist (recipe is my highlight story!).
M2 – Mixed berries 🍓and almonds.
M3 – Homemade turkey 🦃 burger with a side of salad 🥗 and baked 🍠 sweet potatoes + extra virgin olive oil.
M4 – Pre workout: rice 🍚 cakes with jam 🍒 and 100% peanut 🥜 butter.
M5 – Post workout: ½ scoop of whey isolate.
M6 – 2 poached 🥚 eggs, steamed zucchini 🥒 and whole grain bread 🥖 + extra virgin olive oil. ‘Cmon, it might not be 🍔& 🍟 all day, but hey I think this menu is pretty delicious and most of all nutritious.

Yesterday you asked me what I struggled the most with at the beginning of my journey and thinking about it, it was my diet! I believed in so many myths, while in reality clean eating is pretty simple. 👉🏼 Here are 3 tips I would give myself looking back.
1️⃣. Don’t over complicate your meals. During the week, we all have super busy schedules and it’s much easier to grab meals on the go than cooking your own. But, if you are trying to clean up your diet, prepping your food should be a must! So my suggestion is to keep your meal ingredients to a minimum. Follow the eat well plate rule and be sure to include a source of lean protein, whole grains and healthy fat at each meal.
2️⃣. Listen to your body. Eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full.
3️⃣. Cook clean: try to maintain the integrity of what you are cooking by avoiding high-fat cooking methods such as deep-frying! Opt for baking, steaming, grilling to preserve the nutritional value of your food.

▫️cable pull through : your feet should have a wider stance than your shoulders and you should focus on pushing the knees out. Your spine should be neutral and the movement should occur at the hips. Squeeze your glutes at the end! Do 3-4 sets of 8-12 reps.
▫️sumo deadlift at the smith machine: make sure you don’t round your back, and despite what they say that to target the glutes you need to lift heavy, doing too much weight with lack of form can cause back injury. So take it easy, start with lower weights and once you have mastered the technique, add up that volume! Do 3-4 sets of 8-10 reps.
▫️smith machine curtsy lunges: i love this move because I can seriously feel my entire leg working! Quads, glutes, hammies and yep the adductors just go on fire. Do 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps per side. .

#selfcaresunday for me is cooking up delicious meals with my amazing ❤️ Mom.

We share a very special bond, growing up my dad was often in the US for work for long period of times, so my momma & I were always by each other’s sides. ALWAYS. It was the 2 ✌🏼 of us against the world ♥️ and she has been my rock since day 1.
Last week we made the blueberry & banana loaf from @leahitsines@bareguide and believe me, IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!!! We ate it all in one afternoon... and we may or MAY HAVE NOT shared it with rest of the family 🤫 it was just too good.

Mobility drills have become an important part of my routine and I can surely feel the difference during my weightlifting sessions. I feel my body is moving in a more efficient way and it feels GOOD!

Stability balls are great tools for mobility exercises and whether you suffer from stiff shoulders or just want to increase the mobility of your joints, give this exercise a try!

You will need ▫️a stability ball and ◽️a PVC pipe! Lie on the ball pressing your chest towards it while keeping your spine neutral. Hold the pvc pipe with one hand and press towards the floor. Start with 10% pressure, and bring up the intensity to 100%. Once you reach 100% of your strenght, gently release and move the hand up. Repeat 6 times.
