🌋Sicily is the largest among the Italian islands. It is a wonderful place to spend your summer since studded with lovely cities, islands and nature.
🏖The Aeolian Islands and The Egadi Islands are marvelous sites. Named after the God of the Winds Aeolus and home to the God of the Fire Vulcan, the Aeolian Islands include Lipari, Vulcano, Salina, #Stromboli, Filicudi and Rinella. The Egadi Islands are a group of five small mountainous islands: Favignana, Levanzo, Marettimo, Formica, Maraone. In #Monreale you can find the finest example of Norman architecture represented by the Cathedral with its surreal mosaics and Benedictine cloisters. The Zingaro’s Natural Reserve covers a coastal strip of about 7 km, between Scopello and San Vito Lo Capo. It is considered to be a paradise by biologists and naturalists for the great variety of flora and fauna.
🍊Sicilian food is very tasty too. One of the most popular snacks is “Arancini” (little oranges) named after their shape and color. They are actually rice balls stuffed with cheese or meat, coated with bread crumbs and deep-fried to a golden orange. Sicilian desserts are lip-smacking, whether it’s the ricotta filled cannoli or marzipan fruits. And after a delicious meal the perfect conclusion of the day would be going to a gently breezed outdoor theatre to enjoy the “Opera dei pupi”, a marionettes representation, one of the cultural traditions and part of Unesco intangible cultural heritage.
