3 Tips to stop a naughty afternoon snack:
1) Before you grab any food....drink water, and lots!
A lot of the times we mistake hunger for thirst so before you eat anything have a good drink of water. Also being dehydrated can make you tired and unable to concentrate.
2) Never miss lunch. Missing lunch means your blood sugar levels continue to drop, resulting in you feeling hungry, tired and unable to concentrate. This will cause your body to crave sugary foods to increase these levels.
3) Always include a portion of protein and a low GI carb with your meals.
Foods rich in protein (chicken, turkey, seafood and some diary products) These take longer to leave your stomach so you feel fuller for longer.
Low GI Carbohydrates (vegetables, fruit, rye bread and oats) monitor your blood sugar levels, preventing a slump and keeping your energy levels steady.
