Think about a toddler learning to walk. The baby sees their moms outstretched hands and is determined to make it to them. But just as the tot gets closer Mom moves back. And this continues till the baby falls. The toddler never looks behind to feel the gratification and see how far they’ve come!
This is me on my journey to progress my career. Except I’M the one who keeps raising the bar. I haven’t been grateful for any part of my accomplishments. Just frustration for not grasping the ever out of reach end. An overwhelming feeling of failure and defeat. How many of you have felt this way?? Personally or professionally?
Thanks to @passionsquared for bringing a very powerful quote to my attention. “Gratitude turns what we have into enough” -Melody Beattie
So I’ve chosen to establish a promise to myself, my family, clients, friends, and fellow professionals. I promise to be grateful everyday. It is possible to be a driven individual AND happy.
This retreat taught me plenty of awesome tricks behind the chair— all of which I can’t wait to share!! But it also helped my outlook. 💗
