Bobby: "This is beyond everything we expected. It's a brand new garden and it is uplifting the whole community. People stop outside on the sidewalk and see the changes. They 'Oooo' and 'Ahhhh' and we say 'Come in and put your hands in the dirt!' You folks? You can take away the inspiration. You can tell the story that you worked like heck, shoveling dirt in the rain in New York City. Us? We plan, we dream, and we thank you, thank you, thank you." #IGCNY

We were honored to work side by side all week with Sara, the unstoppable Community Horticulturist for Bronx Green-Up, our nonprofit partner. So much knowledge, so much heart, so much Swiss chard! #IGCNY

Big gratitude to awesome Ursula, director of Bronx Green-Up, our nonprofit partner this week. Ursula labored along side us day in and day out, and made a lot of botanical magic happen behind the scenes... effortlessly. Thank you, and your staff and crew of volunteers, for the beautiful work you do -- making New York City a greener, more livable city. #IGCNY

Bunny's homemade mac'n'cheese for our rainy South Bronx BBQ. We are well fed, indeed. #IGCNY

Happy time. #IGCNY

Talib: "Pretty chickens. Pretty chicken coop. That's it." #IGCNY

Jeff: "Good food for good people." #IGCNY

Ashley: "Let's be honest. I complicate my life. I tend to swirl in chaos that doesn't matter. Taqwa has shifted my perspective. Large families, cousins, neighbors, multiple generations... and warmth, such blood boiling warmth. And intelligence. And happiness. Taqwa has given me way more than I've given them. They've gotten me back to basics: love, family, fresh food, hard work, and laughter. The rest? It's just fluff. " #IGCNY

Jonathan: "Enable others to follow their passion. Learn new skills and then show someone what you know. Respect people that come from other backgrounds. Listen to their stories. I've always learned the most from others telling me their life lessons." #IGCNY

Chelsea: "The whole concept of environmental justice is new to me. To live in an area that's been unduly burdened with power plants, waste dumps, no access to nature? How can the community flourish and be healthy? We need to spread the industrial outputs around for people's sake and for the environment, too. It's too much undue stress in one place." #IGCNY

Compost in the chicken coop. In the rain. #IGCNY
