“The greatest things happen when you don’t expect them. On one of our drives to our shooting location, we pass a rambunctious elephant enjoying a bath. The spiny dead trees, brown mud and energetic subject all coincide for a cool photo op.” – Zach (@ocrazyshaman)

“A lone toque macaque, an endemic species of Sri Lanka, nearly disappears among the jungle’s lush camouflage. Sri Lanka has a number of species native to the island, including the leopard, which makes its need for conservation and environmental protection even greater.” – Zach (@ocrazyshaman)

“While shooting this story for @NatGeo with @SteveWinterPhoto, we spend every morning and evening driving through Yala National Park searching for tracks and listening for alarmed animal cries. Finally, our first sighting of a leopard.” – Zach

“Temperatures are very hot in Sri Lanka, making watering holes very important to all the area’s wildlife. This one is evaporating quickly, so Zach and I return to the site of this trap to move the camera to a new position as the water recedes. We had captured images of two leopards drinking here, so we know they frequent the location and we want the gear to be ready for action.” – @SteveWinterPhoto is an acclaimed conservation photographer for the National Geographic Society.
