The ice is my canvas, the blade is my brush, the music is my heartbeat, and the performance is a reflection of the man in that solitary moment.

It has been so much fun to choreograph for this genius right here! Thank you @d1sk_t for trusting me, and for working so hard on all the crazy little details I made you do! I hope you love this piece as much as I loved working on it!!!

Fun throwback to 5 years ago today in Paris!

Hey friends!
I am pretty flippin exciting to be performing at #detroittreelighting17 @campusmartiuspark next Friday, November 17th!
The event starts at 5pm, it's free to the public, and is guaranteed to be a good time. There will be a skating show (with yours truly performing around 7 and 7:30pm). There will be live music by @musicbykem @thornetta_thornetta and @jessicahernandezthedeltas. There will be a live show on @wxyzdetroit from 7-8pm. Hope to see many of you there!!!

Taking a moment, as I head off on my next adventure, to reflect on my time in Colorado. It wasn't an easy two weeks, but it was a rare time in life that I got to stop, take a breath, take in everything around me, and really appreciate the view!

Life has a clever way of putting us in the right place at the right time.
In July I was diagnosed with a basal cell carcinoma (an extremely common form of skin cancer). I flew straight from Japan to Colorado to have my surgery. Because of this I got to be home yesterday to see my amazing grandmother, and tell her how much I love her one final time. She was a woman who took life by the horns and refused to take no for an answer. A model, radio host, tv presenter, actor, gay and civil rights activist, world traveler, mother, and grandmother; she was the biggest bad ass I know all the way to the end! In a time when people don't have the luxury to pass from old age anymore my grandma put her middle finger in the air and said "I'll show you!". M.M. You will be greatly missed!!! ❤️ (skin cancer, you will not! 🖕🏽)

I get by with a little help from my Friends!
Japan Open always goes by too fast! Getting to see the fans and feel your love slows everything down for a brief moment. Coupled by evenings with amazing, intelligent, and beautiful (did I mention talented?) human beings (inside and out) seem to almost stop time. Moments where conversation and laughter outweigh our cell phones because everything we need is directly in front of us. Moments where nothing else is wanted or required!
Thank you to everyone from IMG, ISU, Kinoshita Group, the competitors, performers, and the fans for making this competition one event I look forward to every year! I hope to be back ONE FINAL TIME!!! Love you all so so much ❤️

My Happy place.

Fall has officially arrived and I can't help but reflect on the amazing summer I got to live.
From quiet evenings on Belle Isle, to making new friends and meeting new people, traveling the world, seeing family, having new adventures and seeing new sights. It was a summer of joy and gratitude.
It started with an amazing seminar in Australia. My second trip, and the first ever for @yukasato0214. Watching the hard work and growth of the kids in Perth was incredibly rewarding.
Followed that up with a breathtaking and unforgettable trip to the UP. (My first ever)
Backpacking in the Frank Church wilderness with my sister and her husband, and doing every possible activity in Idaho!
A mind blowing two weeks in the French Alps. Working with a good friend, skating, and having the joy to work with a few of the most talented skaters from across Europe!
Finally making it back to Scotland. Seeing the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, and again being inspired by the skaters I got the honor of working with.
My first ever soccer match. Even though we didn't win @detroitcityfootballclub was amazing
Performing again in Japan for an always enthusiastic and energetic audience of wonderful Japanese fans.
And topped it off with 3 incredible Golden Moment shows in both San Jose and Hawaii! I can't say enough about this experience. I felt an openness to my own skating that I've never felt before, I made new friends, performed with some of my childhood idols, and met (and got to sing with) an absolute legend (and real life Disney princess). I saw family I haven't seen in years and spent a week in paradise getting to do the one thing I love more than anything.
I am so thankful for everyone in my life I got to share these experiences with.
I truly can't express how humbled and grateful I am for every opportunity, and every experience I've had this summer. It was a summer of firsts in many ways and it is one that I will talk about forever! ❤️
I can't wait to put on my comfiest sweater, watch the leaves change color, and see what autumn has in store!
