Please help this baby if you can! Her life had only just begun. If you can’t donate please share! Thank you!
I have a puppy that is not quite 4 months old that has a heart condition. I called the vet to see if I could feed her more than is recommended because she is so skinny. One thing led to another and I ended up talking to a veterinarian at the University of MN where the echocardiogram was done on her and he told me that the medication that she takes is only a temporary fix and that she will only live a year or two without heart surgery. This is not my nature to ask for money, but I just don't know what else to do. I asked the heart surgeon how urgent it is and he said the sooner she can have the surgery, the better she will be. I know it is an unreasonable amount of money to try to raise, but I am looking for help in any way I can get it. Does anyone know of veterinarians that do pro bono? Otherwise, I may need to try to find a home for her where they can afford the surgery. She really is a sweetheart and a cuddler.
So I just talked to the cardiologist at the University of Minnesota and here's what he said $4,500 is the high-end of the range for what it will cost for surgery. (Hallelujah) Her heart will never be completely normal but they hope to get at least a 50% or more reduction in resistance for the blood flow to the lungs but that wouldn't be known until after the surgery. She will continue to need meds for the rest of her life but they are relatively inexpensive. Her life expectancy would change from one to two years to middle age or older. He said we could feed her a quarter of a cup of food 3 times a day instead of twice but if she's losing weight and she's cold he's afraid that may be an indication that her heart condition is getting worse. I am soo worried
