Just out here watering the plants and soaking up some baby snuggles! But that’s not why I’m posting. I typically avoid hot topics, I don’t like confrontation and I don’t like to be controversial but I can’t help but go on a small rant today. I choose to vaccinate my child despite his food allergies and despite him getting diarrhea every time he gets a vaccine. Why? Because vaccinations are one of the most important health tools I have (we all have) to keep him safe. Diarrhea > deadly disease any day. But as you know babies can only get certain vaccines at certain times, that means it’s on the rest of us to make sure we and our children stay up to date with our vaccines. For example I can’t vaccinate my child for measles despite the current outbreak because he is too young so if you aren’t vaccinated you put my child at risk and that isn’t okay with me. You can carry the disease FOUR days before getting any symptoms. So then because you aren’t vaccinated I feel like I have to stay home never leave the house or travel to keep him safe, that’s not fair when it doesn’t have to be like that. It’s not the 1900’s. I just read up to 30% of children are missing their vaccinations, that’s crazy to me. If you are visiting this country or if you visit another country you need to be up to date on all US vaccines. Maybe you don’t agree with me, maybe you stop following me because I wrote this and that’s okay with me because my mama heart is bleeding, the current measles outbreak is 100% preventable. It’s irresponsible, careless, and selfish to put yourself and everyone else including my helpless young baby at risk. Check your vaccines, stay up to date, and keep everyone healthy PLEASE if not for yourself then for the babies who can’t get certain vaccines till they are older. This has been a PSA and I’m done.
