Thank you to everyone who came at Motegi last weekend!

Vlaanderen bounces back with fourth place in second Swiss moto 📸@shotbybavo

Calvin Vlaanderen’s MXGP of Switzerland has not been an easy one, as the standard bearer of Team HRC in the MX2 World Championship got away with a fourth-place finish in race two at Frauenfeld after being forced to pull out of the first moto due to a technical issue. With no weekend off, the young rider from Cape Town will have an immediate chance to bounce back as the series moves to Bulgaria for the seventeenth round of the season – which takes place at Sevlievo on August 26-27.

@calvinvlaanderen
We’re obviously a bit disappointed with how this weekend turned out to be; we were hoping for two good results but we are leaving with just one. I was riding well and had a good feeling, but the small issue on the bike compromised our race. No one to blame for this, it just happens in racing. We stayed focused and our race two start was good. I lacked a little bit fitness-wise in the last few minutes, but I’m still happy with fourth place.

Gajser steps up with top-three finish in second moto at Frauenfeld 📸@shotbybavo

Tim Gajser leaves Switzerland with a top-three race two finish in what was a turbulent day for the two-time world champion at Frauenfeld, which saw the Team HRC rider twelfth at the finish line in the first moto after a coming together with an opponent soon after the start. Gajser’s team mate Todd Waters was 15th and 18th at the end of the two Swiss encounters, showing some improvement from the previous round.

@tiga243
It was quite a disappointing Grand Prix for us, because I was very motivated heading into this round. We showed we had the speed to fight for the top step of the podium yesterday and this morning in warm up. My start in race one was not too good and in the chaos of the first lap I had a coming together with Lieber and went down quite hard – his bike actually landed on me! In the first couple of laps after the crash I wasn’t feeling too well, but then I regrouped and then tried to pass as many riders as I could. Race two was definitely a more positive moto, so now I’m looking forward to Bulgaria; we know we have the speed so we just need to translate it into two strong races. I would like to thank the team, as always, because the bike was perfect.

@toddwaters47
Yesterday’s qualifying race was not good, so the poor gate pick did not help. I woke up this morning and I was motivated to do everything I could to make a difference. We were battling around the top-15 in both races – despite not so great starts – and whilst in the first race I was able to maintain the position until the end, in the second one my form faded out towards the end. Nevertheless, we made some baby steps and my feeling with the bike has improved a little bit, so the goal is to continue in this direction and keep improving in the next two rounds.

Business as usual for Vlaanderen in qualifying race at Frauenfeld 📸@shotbybavo

Team HRC’s Calvin Vlaanderen has finished the qualifying race of the MXGP of Switzerland in seventh place after a good comeback following a challenging start to the moto. Today’s result puts Vlaanderen in a good position for the two MX2 races of the sixteenth round, which will be contested tomorrow at 13:15 and 16:10 local time (GMT +2) at the hard-pack Frauenfeld-Gachnang motocross racetrack.

@calvinvlaanderen
Overall it wasn’t the best day but the seventh place in the qualifying race still gives us a good gate pick for tomorrow. I haven’t felt 100% on the bike all day long but we’re not missing much, maybe just a 5%. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll be able to make that little step forward we need and get two good starts – and two good motos!

Seventh place in Swiss qualifying race for Gajser 📸@shotbybavo

Tim Gajser’s qualifying performance at Frauenfeld was a tale of two halves, as the two-time world champion set an incredible pace aboard his Honda CRF450RW machine in the first half of the moto before having a bit more of a hard time as the race got closer to the end due to an unfortunate incident that prevented him from performing at his best. Gajser’s team mate Todd Waters was twenty-first at the finish line of the 12-lap qualifying encounter of the MXGP of Switzerland.

@tiga243
Today I enjoyed my riding in all sessions. It felt good to take the holeshot in the qualifying race and soon enough I was able to put together a nice margin on second place. I found some very good lines which helped me ride very smooth. It’s a shame that the rear brake level bent, because I was unable to use it in the final laps of the moto and that cost me a few positions as well as the qualifying race win. I’m really looking forward to the two races because I love this track and the bike is perfect, so I must thank the team as always for their great job. Hopefully the weather stays the same!

@toddwaters47
I spent almost the whole race around the top-20, although at some point I was a little further up. I got a little bit frustrated when Herlings came past and disappeared straight away. And then even more so when Simpson did the same, although I tried to keep him behind for a little. My start was better – we did practice starts a lot – although we still need to improve the progression from the three-metre mark forwards. We have a few ideas about adjustments to the set-up for tomorrow, but a lot has to come from my side, too. Hopefully we’ll be able to get two good starts and build up from there.

Busy summer continues for Team HRC in Switzerland 📸@shotbybavo

Team HRC is heading to the north of Switzerland to take part in the sixteenth Grand Prix of 2018, the first of three back-to-back events that will keep the MXGP paddock alive and busy until early September. The standard bearers of the Milan-based official Honda effort in the motocross championship are looking forward to the challenge, with a mix of fond memories and curiosity for what could be in store.

@tiga243
I’m happy to return to action after a weekend away from racing. I managed to train hard and refocus after Lommel, so now I’m looking forward to racing on hard-pack again. Frauenfeld is a track that I really like: last year wasn’t so great but in 2016 we were second overall, so I’m confident of my chances to do well there. I will do my best as usual and we’ll see where we end up, but the goal to is to be on the box!

@calvinvlaanderen
Looking forward to the MXGP of Switzerland. It’s the first of three back-to-back rounds so it will be important to do well in order to keep the momentum going through August and get to the last two rounds in the best possible position. We scored some important points in Belgium, even if it wasn’t our best weekend, so that motivates me to return to the type of results I enjoyed before Lommel. I really like the track, I feel good and I’ve done well here before, so I’m ready!

@toddwaters47
Frauenfeld is a new track for me so I’m curious to see what it’ll be like. I have been training hard since my return from Lommel and I feel like I’m getting a bit of the confidence in my skills back. It’ll be important to see where we’re at once we get there. The team has done an amazing job and supported me the best possible way, so it’s up to me to make a difference now!

Today @marcmarquez93 scored a hard-fought second place at a sunny Red Bull Ring, sharing the podium with race-winner Jorge Lorenzo and third-place rider Andrea Dovizioso. #AustrianGP #MotoGP

First in this morning’s damp FP3 session, first in this afternoon’s dry FP4 session, @marcmarquez93 concluded an extremely positive Saturday at the Red Bull Ring by taking his 49th MotoGP pole, the 77th of his career. #AustrianGP #MotoGP

A sunny morning and a rainy afternoon on the opening day of the Austrian Grand Prix meant that only the FP1 session was available for the riders to fight for a provisional top-10 position. @marcmarquez93 and @26_danipedrosa set the fourth- and sixth-fastest times, respectively, having both found a good enough pace since the start of action at the Red Bull Ring. #AustrianGP #MotoGP

Fresh from an important podium finish, Championship leader @marcmarquez93 and teammate @26_danipedrosa were back on track in Brno for a one day of test, finding sunny and fair weather conditions that were fresher than yesterday’s race, with air and ground temperatures of 25° and 34° C, respectively. #CzechTest #MotoGP

Top-seven result for Gajser at Lommel 📸@shotbybavo

Tim Gajser claimed a seventh-place finish at the end of the MXGP of Belgium, which drew to a close today at Lommel. Despite an up-and-down overall performance, the Team HRC rider has chipped away his gap to third place and he is now only 25 points away from Clement Desalle. Gajser’s team mate Todd Waters was 26th and 21st in the two Belgian motos.

@tiga243
It was a difficult weekend and I’m glad it’s done! The good thing about it was definitely the starts, as I was up there in all the motos. The first 15-20 minutes of both motos were OK, but I made too many mistakes. After I crashed in race one it was hard to get up to speed again, and in general I felt like I was fighting against the track. Nevertheless, we scored some important points and got closer to third place in the standings, so we now look forward to be back at a hard-pack track in Switzerland. Thank you to the team for their amazing job, as usual.

@toddwaters47
I surely didn’t make my life easy by crashing early on in both motos! In the second one, however, I was able to find a decent pace and pass Strijbos for twenty-first position before the finish line. Obviously we are not happy with the result itself, but I feel we have made a step forward so we look forward to Switzerland, where I’ll be racing for the first time.

Sixth place for Vlaanderen in MXGP of Belgium 📸@shotbybavo

The MXGP of Belgium saw Calvin Vlaanderen’s podium streak come to an end as the Team HRC rider was sixth overall at Lommel with a fifth and a seventh in the two MX2 World Championship motos aboard the all-new Honda CRF250RW. With fifteen events out of twenty completed for the season, the 22-year-old from Cape Town still sits fifth in the standings, now just nine points shy of fourth place.

@calvinvlaanderen
I’m not too disappointed with today’s result. Yes, it could have been better, but it could have been a lot worse, too. I fought hard the whole day and did my best, and I feel I couldn’t have done a lot better than this. I put it down in the second moto, which was my fault: they kind of made the outside of the track flat while the inside was very rough, so I landed completely in the middle, my front washed and fell down. I had quite a good rhythm before that and I was happy with my speed, but afterwards it was nearly impossible to get up to speed again. Fifth and seventh is not really what we want, but we’ll keep working hard and fight. I look forward to Switzerland!
