⚘ Rose Lady ⚘
-
It's that time of year again. Some of you might be celebrating with loved ones & others well not so much & it is just another day. Last year I was having a lads lonely hearts night in the homebar, I know..... 🎻 This year things have changed & tonight the cocktail flavoured yankee candles will be lit, & I will be cooking some of my finest cuisine (no microwave) & Ive created this drink especially for the occasion. Who says romance is dead ay πŸ˜‚ anyway that's enough of that & let's get onto the drink.
-
There was only going to be one bottle earmarked for the occasion & that was the amazing rose liqueur I recieved from @laniquedrinks last year. I've posted previously a margarita & a rum tiki drink using it before so I thought it was time to make a gin based recipe & it pairs brilliantly. This is a take on the classic white lady but I've subbed cointreau for lanique & subbed the sugar syrup for some nice homemade grenadine. I was very happy with the resultπŸ‘Œ.
-
60ml/2oz Gin
25ml 3/4oz Lanique rose liqueur
30ml 1oz Fresh lemon juice
15ml 1/2oz Homemade grenadine
1 small egg white.
-
Add all the ingredients into a shaker filled with ice then shake until chilled. Discard only the ice then hard shake. Strain into a martini glass then garnish with a rose 🌹.

🍌 Bananalernum 🍌
-
Doing one last #tippletrade for the time being this time with the drinkstagram fountain of booze knowledge Matthias aka @servedbysoberon. I've done a riff on his tiki drink cannibalernum from which he done a great weekly series #FalernumFridays featuring drinks with the great Caribbean liqueur. I didn't have the exact ingredients but I did have some similar so I decided to switch it up little & I remember that Matthias told me that as I didn't have creole bitters that he used then I could sub in some peychaud's bitters which I purchased especially for the occasion & will be looking to using with some future drinks.
-
I used some banana rum I purchased at a craft fair instead of his tikilovers pineapple rum that he used. I think it might of been a little sweet with the rest of the ingredients so if I made it again I'd either try a good pineapple rum or up the Smith & cross rum that I used in the drink to give it a bit more rum kick. Also I did use 15ml of a very sweet passionfruit syrup so I'd down that to 10ml but I've included that in the recipe but if you try this recipe it's a good one to play around with to get it to your taste. It was a good fun drink to trade nevertheless 😁.
-
30ml 1oz Banana rum
25ml 3/4oz Navy strength rum (Smith & cross)
25ml 3/4oz Falernum
25ml 3/4oz Fresh lime juice
10ml 1/3oz Passionfruit syrup
5 dashes peychaud's bitters
-
Shake all the ingredients except the bitters with crushed ice & open pour into a double old fashioned glass. Float the bitters on top then garnish with pineapple leaves and caramelized banana.

πŸ’€ Corpse reviver 2πŸ’€
-
After a getting a great response from my first video the other day I'm back at it again for another recipe. This one actually took me longer to edit then the first so I've not quite mastered it yet & I think I shot the video a bit to close unlike the last one & I had a bit of lighting issue but practice makes perfect & I had fun making it. I even cracked a smile for you lot at the end 😁.
-
I've never actually tried this drink before but it is said that if you have enough of them it would be enough to revive a corpse & is a great pick me up drink. This drink is taken from the classic Savoy cocktail book in the 1830s where there are two versions of the drink. Corpse reviver 1 Is said to be recommended before 11am the other after. I didn't really fancy having a drink for breakfast so I went for number 2 which seems to be the more popular choice. This was also a good opportunity for me to try out my new bottle of London no3 gin which I think taste great. The only thing I'd sub into this drink if I made it again would be cointreau instead of triple sec & I'd up the gin a little but that's my personal preference & it's a easy gig smooth drink nevertheless. I also forgot to add the lemon twist in the video but added it after a seven in the picture πŸ˜‰.

🌡 Mezcal old fashioned 🌡
-
Well here's a spirit that has been well overdue to take a proud place in my homebar Mezcal!!! Ever since my first try of it last year I've been meaning to purchase a bottle but it just seemed to take forever. I'm sure your already aware of my love for tequilla so when I tried it's smokey flavoured relative I knew I was going to be hooked & you will be seeing me use this alot more throughout 2019. I done a little research & came across @delmagueymezcal made in a single village & with a reputation to be a good all rounder for mixing so this was to be my first mezcal purchase. The Smokey flavour is pretty ammence & if you have never tried I urge you to. I tried it neat like I do each bottle & then I new exackly what drink I was going to make next with it as I wanted a drink that would not spoil the flavour so an old fashioned was the go to 🀀. No particular reason on the belt garnish other then spotting it on @kahosbar so check his page out for some cool crazy garnishes.
-
60ml/2oz Mezcal @delmagueymezcal
1 sugar cube
3 dashes of angostura bitters
Splash of water.
-
In a double old fashioned glass add the sugar cube then cover it with the bitters. Add the splash of water & stir until it is dissolved. Add your Mezcal & a large ice sphere/cube then I like to stir for 2 minutes to give it a nice diloution but the time is often subject to much debate. Express a orange peel over the glass & rub it on the rim & add it to the drink. 🍊

🐏 Physco killer 🐏
-
Your probably initially wondering why I have used a sheep emoji linked with a physco killer πŸ€”. The reason being is I'm doing another #tippletrade this time with @sheepishjen the event by @scottishmixology & @wisecraft_mixology . Now if there was a person's drink cabinet I'd like to raid it would be Jen's as with the recipes she creates there is often ingredients I don't have and always something new to learn about. If you want to know about Amaro, whiskey & great unusual bitters this is the account to check out πŸ‘Œ.
-
I actually managed to find a recipe that I could kind of match the ingredients with Jen & that is rare for me. She took it from the dead rabbit mixilogy & mayhem book which I don't own but I've heard great things about. I didn't want to change up the recipe so I used the same ingredients but just used different brands. I didn't have the same as Jen's but hopefully I got a similar result. Even if your not a whiskey drinker then I honestly think you could still enjoy this & I got to say that I really enjoyed the drink alot. I don't know how all the flavours came together but they did in a nice subtle way especially the banana liqueur & like Jen said in her post it's important to use a decent one.
-
60ml/2oz Irish whiskey (Bushmills 10 year single malt)
25ml 3/4oz Campari
15ml 1/2oz Creme de cacoa
15ml 1/2oz Banana liqueur (Cobana)
2 dashes of absinthe.
-
Add all the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice & stir for 30 seconds πŸ₯„. Strain into a chilled martini glass then garnish with a caramelized banana 🍌.

πŸ’ Luxardo cherry amaretto sour πŸ’
-
Any of you remember the πŸ˜₯ face on my story of when I ran out of Luxardo cherries. Well the one good thing is once these beauty's had gone I was left over some amazing cherry juice πŸ˜‹. I've been saving this for a special occasion & when I see @erbsiscocktails version of this drink I knew what I was going to use for in my #tippletrade the event hosted by @scottishmixology & @wisecraft_mixology where you trade drinks with fellow drink makers. Another thing that attracted me to the drink was the use of Irish whisky & I've been looking for a opportunity to use my neglected bottle of Jamerson's caskmates so that has made a nice rare appearance. I would describe Erbsis page as pretty similar to mine & that she loves the classics aswell as mixing it up modern ones & loves a tiki recipe from @smugglerscovef a bit like myself. Check out her page πŸ‘Œ.
-
60ml/2oz Amaretto
35ml/1oz Jamerson caskmates ipa edition
30ml/1oz Fresh lemon juice
15ml 1/2oz Marashino cherry juice
1 egg white.
-
Add all the ingredients into a shaker filled with ice then shake until chilled. Strain into a glass. Pour the mix back into the shaker (no Ice) & shake for 30 seconds. This will get you that nice foam. Now strain into a chilled coupe & garnish with Marashino cherries πŸ’.

πŸ‰ Water melon cooler πŸ‰
-
Back to just the pictures today but after a overwhelming response on yesterday's video I will be making some more once I get the time πŸ˜‰. Onto the next drink. If you see my melon post the other day then you might of noticed i used half of a melon in a fishbowk mocktail sharer drink. Not wanting to waste the left over melon I looked into my archive of to make drinks & bookmarked ones. I spotted this one by @chembo_cocktails cocktails & like he states in his write up its not very seasonale drink for this time of the year but it's a good drink & i was happy just to use up the left overs from the other day & I do enjoy a decent frozen drink despite it being one of the coldest months of the year here but I'm sure it's nice and sunny somewhere in the world where this drink could be made & would go down well πŸ–.
-
45ml/1.5oz White rum @_Havanaclub
15ml 1/2oz Aperol
30ml 1/3oz Fresh lime juice
15ml 1/2oz Sugar syrup
Hand full of melon chunks.
-
Add all the ingredients & a small handful of ice into a blender then pulse πŸ‘‰ until smooth. Pour into a coupe glass & garnish with a melon slice.

β›© Asian margarita β›©

πŸŽ₯ All production & editing done by myself on my Samsung s9.

-
So I finally made a video πŸ™ŒπŸŽ¬. Now please bare in mind I have zero experience of making/editing videos & I done this on my own & for the 51 seconds of the video it took me alot longer to make but I got there in the end 😁 Despite being told I look a bit grumpy in the video I assure you I was having fun making it but think that was my concentration/nervous on camera face πŸ˜‚. -
This drink is called the Asian margarita because simply it has butteryfly pea tea inside it & the oringin of (BPT) is Asia. I did not want to stray to far from the original margarita recipe as it is one of my favourite drinks. BPT comes in two forms to what I know of extract & a syrup you can make from the flowers. Once you add this to your drink it will give you a bluey colour & once you add lemon/lime or something acidic it will change to a pretty purple/pink colour. The only thing I will say is that & I said in a previous recent post is that I think the syrup would be better then the extract as not only will you get a better colour change & it would add more of a floral taste to the drink. I unfortunately don't have any syrupyet but I will make some soon πŸ˜‰ The extract is still a decent addition. I hope you enjoy the video any & any questions please fill free to ask. -

πŸ’ƒ Mary Pickford πŸ’ƒ
.
Every now & then I have to go to some of the old school drinks. This drink was apprentlanly created for an Canadian-American actress back in the 1920s. Her name was of course Mary Pickford. It's a little before my time of movies but she can't of been doing to bad for her to have this drink created for her. It was also a good chance for me to use my first ever batch of homemade grenadine I whipped up tonight which I got told is a must in this drink along with some fresh pinapple juice.Thank you @servedbysoberon for the tips πŸ‘It's a simple sweet enjoyable drink.
-
60ml/2oz White rum @angosturahouse
45ml/1.5oz Fresh Pinapple juice
10ml 1/3oz Homemade grenadine (recipe below ⬇️)
7.5ml 1/4oz Marashino liqueur
A barspoon of Fresh lime juice.
-
Grenadine recipe. I purchased a bottle of Fresh non concentrated Pomegranite juice. I add one cup of this to a saucer & one cup of sugar & boiled it slowly until the sugar dissolved. Let it cool in the fridge then pour into a bottle & store in the fridge ready for use.
-
Add all the ingredients into a shaker filled with ice then shake until chilled then strain into a chilled martini glass then garnish with Pinapple & a Marashino cherry πŸπŸ’.

πŸŒ΄πŸ‰ Treasure island sharer πŸ‰πŸŒ΄
-
This is my entry to the #homebarawards January challenge. Non alcoholic cocktails (mocktails). This is my first ever mocktail I've posted so it was exciting to work on a new project. I remember mocktails as very fruity when I was a kid as that is the only time I personally have drunk them & I didn't want to stray to far from my memories of them but I wanted a drink which appeals to all ages. This drink is refreshing & would be ideal to serve at a family/friends gathering or party or for those who are driving. Lots of fruit with some sweet & citrus which gives it a very summer appeal. -
(Serves 4 people)
2 cups of crushed ice
Handful of frozen melon (deseeded)
150ml/5oz Fresh pinapple juice
100ml/3.5oz Fresh lime juice
50ml /1.5oz Blue Curacoa syrup
25ml 3/4oz Orgeat syrup
25ml 3/4oz Honey
150ml bottle of fever tree Mediterranean tonic.
-
Add all the ingredients into a blender & quickly flash blend. Pour into a half cut melon shell then garnish with lime & lemon pirate ship, pinapple beach with cinnamon & umbrella picks for trees & pinapple fronds for the jungle edge.

🐸 Mexican Bullfrog 🐸
-
This is just a little mix & match of some other cocktails I've previously made. It's basically like a cross between a margarita & a sour. Now the coming up with a new name for your made up concoction is part of the creation but sometimes I just try and keep it simple & the clue is in the picture. Yes it's green like a frog & it's base drink is tequilla the national treasure of Mexico πŸ‡²πŸ‡½ Nice & easy a bit like the recipe. I've paired it up with lots of other fruit flavours so this has a bit of a sour/tangy flavour but the tequilla of course comes through. -
50ml/1.5oz Tequilla @donjuliotequila Blanco
25ml 3/4oz Midori melon liqueur
15ml 1/2oz Fresh lemon juice
15ml 1/2oz Fresh lime juice
15ml 1/2oz Triple sec
10ml 1/3oz Sugar syrup.
-
Add all the ingredients into a shaker filled with ice then shake until chilled then strain into a chilled martini glass then garnish with a lime wheel. You can add a salt rim if you like and I would do a half rim so you can try it to see if you prefer it with a savoury after taste.

🍸Spiced El presidente🍸
-
I first created the original of this drink not so long ago. I don't make to many drinks with vermouth but that is slowly changing & I will be making more effort to use it this year & hopefully add a few new additions to the shelf. I really enjoyed the original El presidente so I thought I'd try this one with by using another sample I received from @cuttotherum there spiced rum which really brings a different aspect to the drink with the spices, vanilla & caramel flavours.
-
60ml/2oz Spiced rum @cuttotherum
30ml/1oz Dry vermouth @maisonnoillyprat
15ml 1/2oz Triple sec
1 dash of orange bitters.
-
Add all the ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice then stir for 30 seconds πŸ₯„Strain into a chilled coupe then garnish with what ever you like. I used some pinapple fronds as I didn't want some to go to waste 🍍.
