Holly Brannigan  Making babies, pots and community, with my bestest friend.

Oh glorious sunshine please stay a little longer. Rain clouds are coming in tomorrow so I’m sinking into a bit of a pit of anxiety as I have to prepare a birthday party and tidy a filthy house (the side effect to entire days in the garden). I had very little sleep and just want to lie on the beach snoozing! I was sooooo hoping we could party outside tomorrow, also first proper birthday party that isn’t just all my sisters and my friends. Aka a house full of girls.... gulp. So pleaaa any tips on party ideas cos I’ve gone blank!

It’s so great being friends with some many amazing female makers. Another perfect woven mat from Naomi.💓
A couple spaces are left on @naomi.creative.roots next dreaming and weaving workshop, it’s her last one for a while so don’t miss out! Check out her insta for more info. ✨✨✨✨

We are sun kissed and covered in dirt. The morning has been elbow deep in soil, pulling out weeds and replanting shoots. Collecting creepy crawleys and laughing, so much laughing. There is an ant on my leg, snuck in with me as I sit here feeding the baby. I’m listening to a radio four drama about Spike Milligan which is funny and silly and is reflecting my mood. Im giddy drunk on sunshine and brimming with excitement about our garden and the magic we can make there. We are taking a moment to sit inside with a cuppa and rest before heading out to play with friends.

An emotional day as this girl, our best mate, turns six. She has always been the most wonderful girl and is only getting better and better, I’m totally lost in a haze of glowing nostalgia on a day where the sun is almost as bright as her. 🌞✨✨✨♥️

2/5 sisters ✨

The big two made pancakes with bananas and coconut yoghurt for breakfast, followed by some half-eaten chocolate we unearthed in the kitchen.
💛We had a beautiful but very full birthday for Jarvis so we are all feeling shattered! After this slow breakfast where we all prayed for him this year, the baby and I went back to bed for another two hours zzzz. Still it’s never enough! 😴😵

Jarvis Oak, four years of breaking hearts and ceramics. Wonderfully wild but delicate, so compassionate and loyal. Favourite things are reading books , skateboarding and making others laugh. We all love you endlessly 💛

Her aggressive love for this baby bro of hers.
~this week’s food fun: He will only eat porridge and he only wants a fork to eat it with. But guys, FINALLY, dinner outside.
I almost cried with happiness, walking through Falmouth yesterday. The sun shining and bumping into lots of wonderful friends.
(Prewarning: You’re all gonna get so sick of me swooning over how much better I feel beneath these rays)

The internet is a cruel place, a stark expanse of faceless hate messages, spaces with the sole purpose to bitch about people, REAL people, real people who could search it and see every part of their character torn to shreds. There are dark spaces where the illegal and exploitation of the vulnerable thrives. Advertisements are in every square. It breeds depression and anxiety, sucks out time and energy away from tangible enjoyments and connections. A portrayal of the perfect life, children, mothers, friends, work, house, wardrobe, garden, a place stewed with comparison and feelings of not good enough. We know it’s not real and not a whole picture but we forget and constantly our standards of what should be reach sky scrapingly high. We forget what we are seeing is somebodies artistic output, a place to share beauty and the good things, that the ugly is there too, beside that gorgeous bench of flowers sprinkling artfully out of a hand thrown vase, there may sit an ugly pile of dirty washing. Those smiling babies with brushed hair and designer clothes will squabble the next moment, draw on the wall another. The travel blogger on the white sanded beach under palms and an endless blue sky, gets sick for a week or hassled buying dinner, feels home sick and cries all night with exhaustion. But among that deep sordid pool of cruelty there are pockets of genuine, of kind, of connection. There is friendship. The internet connects likeminded and shares ideas among comrades. In the last 12 years I’ve been so blessed to make friends here. One of those more recently which does my heart a lot of good is found in the extended hand of Jessica. Aka @sugarhouseworkshop. A gorgeous mama doing her thing beautifully with two charming boys clucking around her. She’s endlessly inspiring, finding magic in nature’s colours and the sewing machine. We were so emotional to open such a beautiful springy parcel last week. Among it this print from talented @lindseypemberton, playsilks, a craft project, recipes and a spring story. While Jarvis wears his grass green silk as a cape and tears around us, Queenie and I sit in the sun and pour through the package details. Thank you darling Jessica xx
