:: Last week I had the pleasure of working with @acuracanada and providing them with some insight of my personal take on Precision Crafted Performance.
I recall being asked a question, “How
has your idea of success shifted from when you first started?” I hadn’t really taken the time to think about this, because when I started, becoming a DJ wasn’t something I wanted to become successful at, I just loved the art of DJing.
It wasn’t until the art of DJing evolved into an opportunity to travel, self-sustain and make an impact in various ways did I start to shift my idea of what success as a DJ really looked like for me.
After working the nightclub scene for 15 years, my idea of success has changed drastically. I see that world through a whole different lens than I did 15 years ago. Different things matter to me now.
I learned to say ‘No” to overworking myself in the ever dispensable, constant under-cutting world of the “nightclub circuit” and learned to take time, reflect, find better opportunities and accelerate my career.
In that transition, I had to learn so much about me and became very unapologetic about creating the new vision for myself, which is what the amazing folks at Acura Canada mentioned that’s something that they are going through right now as a brand.
It obviously always hasn’t been easy. I’ve had to cut out a huge piece of my life and even distance myself from certain people and situations in order to make that transition into striving for another level of success in my life. Once you understand its about experiencing the ups and downs that constantly remind you about what your core values are, that’s what keeps you rooted in focusing on your idea of success.
