Did something different today πŸŒΈπŸ‡

YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING! 😍😍😍 I had the best day in the history of Hera's Watercolor. I barely have any paintings left, and I don't know how I'll be able to paint new ones for the market/online store in the midst of all my commissions. I am completely overwhelmed! Therefore I decided to make a boogie for you. Swipe left to say hello to all my chins and see Hera photobombing. After all, Hera is a huge part of Hera's Watercolor πŸ‘ΈπŸΌπŸΆ I have lots in the works, though, so stay tuned!

How are we feeling about this? Scaled it up - a lot, and went crazy - a lot. Plastic still on, paint still wet. Okay, I admit it, I'm in love. Bonus points to those who see who I've let myself be inspired by! πŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ•ΊπŸΌ

Today has been absolutely lovely β˜€οΈ I painted some, but more importantly, I took the first bath of the year! In fact I think it's the first bath I've had in many years. Bergen and London are not the most inviting places to go for a swim. I don't count far away holidays πŸ˜‚

It's midsummer's night eve! πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸŽ‰πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ Today is the longest day of the year. "Sommersolsnu" = Summer Sun Turn. The days will grow darker from now until the 23rd of December. Today we meet and light bonfires and celebrate. God St.Hans! β˜€οΈβ˜€οΈ

Nothing is more beautiful than Norway and you can't tell me otherwise. Remember the painting "Flock around"? I will tell you a story about that painting. But first, do you also remember that Norway had an awful terror attack in 2011? At the time, I was very politically active. I was local leader of the liberal youth party, and I had all my friends in the youth political network. I had friends on the island where one lunatic shot and killed dozens of people. I was there πŸ‘†πŸΌ. Or at least very close to there. I had minimal signal and couldn't reach any of my friends. I was told not to call, because they were in hiding, in hiding from an armed man dressed as a police officer. That night I lit 37 tea lights before I ran out of space to put them. I spent my time in the mountain working in a tourist cottage hanging out with sheep. I have said it before: did you know that sheep are so meditative? They are. And to this day, I paint sheep whenever I need calm and tranquility. Whenever I need to sort out my head. Anyways... I am away on holiday. I am still painting, and I will do my best to keep you posted, but I realize I am more quiet these days. My apologies in advance ❀️

I'm being a tad too busy enjoying the few summer days in London this year has to offer 😎 In the meantime, have you checked out these miniature paintings? They are small signed postcards, all of them are one of a kind. Hit the link in bio to check them out!

I have started a series originals on postcards featuring Norwegian fauna. They can be purchased as is, which is the matte finish typical of watercolour, or with a satin seal that allows for safe postage of the card as well. Will be up on my website within the next week! 😁

From way back when I sent this to @stoned_handmade and she received it. We did an art swap, which I was THRILLED about as I absolutely adore her. I fear her work got lost in the mail (😭), but I stay hopeful! On another note, I am stationed in Covent Garden today, if you're local or in town, visit!

I haven't finished the canvas I was prepping, so I thought I would post this photo of a canvas I did in March. I'm so excited to get started on the new one, but feel so stressed about everything else I need to do that I can't relax enough to sit down(/stand) and do it πŸ˜– But this afternoon! I will. I can't wait any longer 😁

Prepping canvas today! It's been a while since I painted on canvas, so I'm pretty excited to be back at it. Did you know that watercolour on canvas is still somewhat frowned upon? Today I throw traditionalism out the window. I don't need anybody's permission anyway 😜

I paint by feeling. Subjects that made me feel the way I feel when I paint them. I keep coming back to sheep (pictured) because sheep make me feel calm, peaceful, hopeful. They trot along, looking for the best spot of grass. I don't paint a lot of details, ever. I may start from a reference photo, or do studies using them, but I feel that using references during the whole process limits my ability to paint what I want the painting to evoke. Every painting is done in feeling, and I want them to make you feel something too. Some of them are stories of awful events, others of personal victories. I'll never "paint to sell".
