✨ sometimes all it takes is a pair of overalls to make you feel like you're on.top.of.the.world / even if it means your day is spent inside studying πŸ™„aaaaand even if it means said pair of overalls makes you look like a child lol ✌🏼 #whateverworks #summmmmer #whereuat

.
PS this particular pair is from @oldnavy + not expensive + the perfect color + fits like a dream 😎

*something* about simplicity and beauty in places you least expect it / in this case: a pair of cacti in tomato sauce cans on the side of a random food truck 🌡 #itsthelittlethings #findjoy

Y'all. Med school is hard. Like really, really hard. And not even in the this-material-is-crazy-ridiculous sense but more so in a juggling-a-bazillion-things-at-once sense. And the last month for me has been extremely trying. When it rains, it pours.... am I right?!? πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ The only reason I've stayed even remotely sane is the support of some of the very, very best humans.
.

One of those great humans is @ldenson. Through all the craziness, the breakdowns, + late night study sessions... she's been my med school best friend. (πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€βš•οΈπŸ‘©πŸ»β€βš•οΈ) The unique thing about med school is being surrounded with so many like minded individuals, who endure the same challenges and truly understand that the.struggle.is.real 😩
.

Guys. I know we say this all the time, but it truly takes a village. Just because you can do it alone doesn't mean you HAVE to. For someone who's used to being so independent and in control, I'm learning that: it's (more than) okay to let others take care of you. ✨ There is absolutely no shame in that.

When you're seriously lacking in the fun (and studying like there's no end), nothing like a disco ball tumbler to add that little bit of (much needed) sparkle to your life ✨
.

Patiently (or not so patiently) πŸ™πŸΌ counting down the days until summer break!!!!! - PS s/o to @bonnie_diehl for this fun little disco ball cup / she really, really gets me πŸ’™

Something that's been on my mind a lot recently. I'm a firm believer in this notion: that it takes SO much more effort to hold onto hate than to just let.it.go. Life's way too short to hold onto the little grudges / to the little things. So here's to good vibes, radiating positivity, and always realizing that tomorrow is a new day. ✨ PS it's almost the weekend!!!!

Growing up, I always dreamed of getting out to explore the world - sights and places in faraway countries, experiences so foreign from my own upbringing. For the most part, I've gotten to see many of the sights I always dreamed of getting to. They were beyond beautiful, but what stuck about those places wasn't necessarily the sight itself.
.

I've realized that it doesn't matter where I'm at in life: where I live, where I visit.. as terribly cliche as it sounds, the people and the memories who surround me and inhabit that space are what make a place worth remembering. And even if I'm not always off to glamorous or faraway places, being with the people that I love the most makes a place pretty special.
.
I've been going through a lot of stuff in my personal life recently, and I'm trying my best to keep up with school while also remaining as sane as possible. I'm sorry if I can't update this space quite as much as I want to, but I'm doing my best to do so. Thanks for the support, friends πŸ’›

Days when I actually get to wear my white coat make me feel a whole lot more official than I actually am, which is completely silly because it's just a whole lot of white fabric, hahaha. ✌🏼
.
Speaking of silly (πŸ€”), I remember the first standardized patient (aka a paid actor) encounter I ever had.. I was soooo nervous that I introduced myself as "Student Doctor Robin" instead of using my last name. πŸ˜‚ It wasn't a big deal, but my physician facilitator totally roasted me in front of our small group and went on a rant about how not to introduce yourself - using me as a prime example. πŸ’πŸ» Happy to announce I haven't said "student doctor Robin" ever since.... Look how far I've come (!!!!). 😜 #jk #mostlyclueless #still #traumatized

PS. in case you missed it, I have a new blog post up - it's a Medical related Q&A tag. πŸ’ Learn more about my background + how med school has been going. Check it out if you haven't already (link in bio!) ✨

Happy Monday! I've been super MIA recently.. sorta kinda, unintentionally took a hiatus. Apologies, friends! πŸ‘‹πŸΌ We had our first huge pathology test last week. Lots of studying. Little sleep. No time. You know how that ish goes πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‚ It was a lot of intense material but I actually really enjoyed it! I took this Easter weekend to unplug and just be with family, and it was just what I needed to start this week strong! πŸ’«
.
In other news, I'm back today with a new blog post. I was tagged by the super awesome @omgmdtobe to do a Medical Q&A Get to Know Me tag! In my newest post, I answered some questions about pre med life, my background, and how medical school's going so far. If you're interested, the link is in the bio! πŸ’•
.
I'm also tagging a few of my fave med school chicas to do the same Q&A! ☝🏼

Got a chance to listen to Dr. Bruce Beutler, who received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, for his work in discovering TLR-4 (and how LPS binds and can cause gram negative infections and shock). Left feeling incredibly inspired and just in complete awe. #sciencerocks
.
To top it off, whippin' my hair back and forth bc y'all it's FRI-YAY!!! πŸ™‹πŸ»πŸ‘πŸΌ I'll be studying all weekend in preparation for our test next week, buuut that doesn't mean I can't sleep in Saturday morning (!!!).
.
Okay, so now you! What are you up to this weekend? ✨

Woaaaah, it is almost the weekend y'all! Is it just me or did this week go by crazy fast?! What better way to celebrate the almost-weekend than some new beauty products?! 😍 I received these fun @origins products (for free from @influenster!), and over the last week, I've had so much fun trying these skincare products! ✨
.
Up on the blog, I have a new post talking a little about each of the products: my first impressions, effectiveness, and ultimately, if they're worth the price. πŸ€” I also talk a little bit about @influenster too. Check it out #ontheblog if you're interested! Link in bio!

Last week, we finished up our fundamentals of disease and treatment 1 class (!!!!). Y'all, this is cause.for.celebration. πŸ‘πŸΌThis is huuuuge because it means we are officially "done" with Year 1 material. I unexpectedly loved this block. It was filled with all the drugs + bugs, and although there was so, so, so much information (and so much work 😳), it was exciting to learn + (attempt to) think about things in a doctor-y kind of way. πŸ‘©πŸ»β€βš•οΈ
.
We still have two blocks left until school's out for summer (such a tease ugh πŸ™„). So in the meantime, we start on the "second pass," which begins with fundamentals of disease and treatment 2.
.

Summer is so, so soon, and I couldn't be more excited. πŸπŸ‰β˜€οΈ Finalizing summer plans + goals and even looking ahead to next semester... ugh life's feeling good y'all. #summercomesoon #please😩 #scrublife

My favorite part about #medicine is getting to meet and serve people. That we get to share in something as vulnerable as someone's health and someone's personal story is something so, so special.
.
Yesterday, we made another home visit to our senior mentor, the elderly, retired physician. He was in such a good mood - kept thanking us for coming and cracking jokes as we evaluated his fall risk (he thought it was so pointless and funny πŸ˜‚). He told us about how full of a life he's lived + reminded us to do the same. He told us so many stories about his wife and his children, reminding us to hold our loved ones so, so close.
.
It was our last visit of the semester, so as we said our goodbyes, he looked us each in the eye and said "Study hard. I know it's hard, but I promise it'll be worth it. The world needs you. We need you." ✨
