working on a fried shallots recipe right now and decided to use the leftover shallot oil to make another batch of chili oil. i'm still waiting for the oil to cool before assessing the flavor, but it looks promising! i already know that the sediment is going to be my favorite part! .

made some of this ginger/garlic/scallion oil again to go with dumplings and tofu, and it's so good! turn the sound on for relaxing sizzling soundsπŸ’†πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

recipe: 2 tbs minced ginger, 3 cloves minced garlic, 3-ish tbs minced scallions, 1/2 tsp salt and 1/3 cup canola or vegetable oil. heat up the oil for about 2 or 3 minutes, just before it starts smoking. pour it over the herbs/spices, and BE CAREFUL!

let the oil sit for 20 to 30 minutes. scoop out the herbs and spices and serve it with chicken, fish, or tofu and it's like adding a flavor bomb πŸ’£ the hot oil helps release the flavors of the spices and takes out their raw bite. you can use the infused oil for sauces or dressings. i usually keep leftovers for no more than a week. #foodvideo #chinesefood

these teriyaki tofu buns have been my latest obsession. they are inspired by gua bao, except i used @OroweatBread Multigrain Sandwich Thins for the bun. (#ad) the Sandwich Thins are made with whole grains, olive oil, and sea salt, so they're a healthier alternative to traditional bao! my husband and i totally dig these for weeknight dinners! πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹ #DoYourOwnThin

here's what you need to make the buns:
.
4 Oroweat Multigrain Sandwich Thins
14-ounce block extra firm tofu
2 1/2 tbs teriyaki sauce
2 tbs olive oil
4 tsp apple cider vinegar
pinch of salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 cup shredded red cabbage
3/4 cup julienned carrots
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
3/4 cup sliced cucumbers
1 scallion, sliced

cut the tofu block into 8 slices and pan fry them with a splash of olive oil for about 8 minutes, flipping it around to brown several sides. add the teriyaki sauce to the pan and coat the tofu pieces with the sauce.

in a small bowl, whisk the olive oil, apple cider vinegar, salt, onion powder, and sugar together. mix the cabbage, carrots, sesame seeds, and red pepper flakes and toss with the vinaigrette. .
assemble the bao. separate the Sandwich Thins so that you have 8 halves. fill each half with a slice of teriyaki tofu, cucumber slices, a bit of slaw and some scallions. drizzle more teriyaki sauce over the buns if desired. enjoy!
