I asked Arlo what he wanted for his birthday and he said an elephant. So meet Kuishi, our new foster baby! Info below...
This #FosterFriday , please welcome #Kuishi to our fostering program!
This year’s prolonged dry season took its toll on Tsavo’s residents. The rains finally arrived in November, but they came too late for Kuishi’s mother, who succumbed to the effects of the drought. When we found Kuishi, she was bravely standing vigil over her collapsed mum, despite being on the brink of starvation herself.
Now safely in the care of our #DSWT Nursery, one-year-old Kuishi (whose name means ‘to live’ in Swahili) is fully embracing her second chance at life. She is a very gentle girl, although this characteristic often fades away during feeding time — she loves her milk bottles and can become a bit pushy in pursuit of them!
Kuishi's new favorite pastime is chasing warthogs around. However, if they get too close, she becomes scared and runs away squeaking, oblivious to the fact that they’re a fraction of her size!
