I had an exciting moment yesterday when I went to Blick and saw the drawing I did for @strathmoreart on the cover of their 400 series limited edition anniversary drawing pad! This drawing is of Strathmore Paper’s founder Horace Moses, who started the company 125 years ago. On March 17, 1892 Horace Moses, started a new paper mill in West Springfield, MA. Soon after opening the mill, Horace visited the Valley of Strathmore in Scotland. The thistle was in full bloom and the beauty of the site impressed him so much that he started using the thistle and the name Strathmore as a symbol of high quality art and printing papers. You can see in my drawing I drew a thistle flower on his suit. This drawing was also created on the 400 series paper, which works with a wide range of media and styles.
The Strathmore brand quickly became known as one of the highest quality art papers and has kept this reputation as a supplier of fine art paper for over a century.
I have been using Strathmore paper since I first began drawing and I never would have imagined one day having my work on the cover of one of their drawing pads! Thank you @strathmoreart for providing me and artists around the world with the perfect surface for creating works of art! #StrathmoreArt
