Heal the Bay  🏝 The next #NothinButSand Cleanup is @ Redondo Beach on July 21👇

#tbt to Nick Gabaldón Day - a celebration every June for the first recorded surfer of African-American and Mexican-American descent in California. Thanks to support this year from @ca_coastal and @cbmla_, Joshua was able to find his first wave!

Our president @drshelleyluce shares powerful testimony about Heal the Bay’s support for the Safe, Clean Water Program - a public funding measure that will increase nature-based stormwater capture, treatment and reuse in our region, while growing equitable community benefits from:
.
💧Less concrete... more green space.
💧Less pollution... more clean water.
💧Less health risk... more resilience.
💧Less imported water... more local sources.
.
Yesterday, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors voted to PASS this important water quality ballot initiative in a 4-1 vote.
.
Now it’s up to L.A. voters to secure our water future by ✅VOTING YES for SAFE, CLEAN WATER✅ on the ballot this November.
.
We’d like to thank the Supervisors for listening to us on this issue, the @OurWaterLA coalition for rallying support, and the Heal the Bay community for your ongoing advocacy and educational efforts.
.

Democracy at work: Today, we are in DTLA standing up for #OurWaterLA. The L.A. County Board of Supervisors will be voting soon on whether to place the Safe, Clean Water Program on the November 2018 ballot - a public funding measure that could raise $300 million a year for nature-based stormwater capture projects. Stay tuned to our IG Story for live updates.

Thank you, #SantaMonica for the Most Loved Nonprofit Award. We are grateful to collaborate with our local partners and create positive change in our community. 💙

Are plastic straws taking over your feed? Let us add some more to celebrate beverage-culture purveyor @starbucks for pledging to go strawless by 2020. Stoked to see less of their iconic green single-use plastic straws at our beach cleanups in L.A. County.

Cool off during this crazy heat wave in L.A. with an inspiring water story from Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, whistleblower for the Flint Water Crisis. Check out the full interview at our blog!

Go #FoamFree and say no thanks to single-use plastic this 4th of July. *Pass* on the plastic straws, cups, to-go containers, bags, plates and utensils. No matter where you are in greater L.A., the plastic trash near you may reach the ocean. Every action you take makes a difference. 🗽
