So yesterday I finished my 28 days of winter swimming every day in the ocean. Today I didnโ€™t have to go but strangely I found myself there at 5.30 this evening having a quick dip, and iโ€™m off tomorrow with a friend at 6.15am. Before I started this little project I though people who swam/got in the ocean all year round were absolutely crazy. I wouldnโ€™t contemplate getting wet even on a coolish day in summer let alone a stormy day in the middle of winterโ€ฆ but now I have done 28 days straight in all sorts of weather and degrees of coldness I get it ๐Ÿ˜†Its not that bad. In fact there is something really quite enjoyable about it. Its like a hard workoutโ€ฆits uncomfortably fun/not fun but you feel so good after!!! It has also changed me a bitโ€ฆ.. I used to really fear being cold. Its one of the things I really hated. But now I have been colder than at any time in my life I realise it wonโ€™t kill me and its just a temporary status and I just accept it! After day 10 I stopped thinking about it. I hated waves but now I have spent time in the water in storms with big swell (for Perth!) I just deal with them and donโ€™t stress half as much as I used to. I used to hate seaweed and it used to totally freak me out. I have swum in so much of it in the last month I actually donโ€™t care about it anymore. I always loved being out in the rain but being at the beach in the pouring rain and having a dip is kind of crazily fun on a new level. You feel like a kid again! The beach in winter is beautiful. I never realised how peaceful it was at sun rise (on a non stormy day!) and you have it all to yourself. I love that I have found who my real crazy friends are because a few of them have joined me and some might also start doing this as a regular thing. My kids asked me today if I was going to carry on for the whole year. When I said maybe they cheered! We have spent more time at the beach this last month than ever before. The kids are already planning on coming with me and getting in the ocean before school once summer arrives. So it looks like my crazy 28 day challenge may be extended for an unspecified period of time....who would have thought ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

43 minute AMRAP of:
43 push ups
43 hang power cleans
43 Wall balls
43 t2b or sit ups
43 calories on bike, rower or ski erg
*** 5 burpees for every year I had a major life event (8 on winning the @crossfitgames to make 43 reps in total)

Knocked out a great early morning session in 1 and 1/2 hours today (including warm up) ๐Ÿ˜Š. Chatting was kept to a minimum which is why I was so productive ๐Ÿ˜‚

-8 chest to bar pull ups

2)
-4, 8, 12, 16, 20 double kb snatch (16kg kbโ€™s) taking each rep from ground
-20, 16, 12, 8, 4 Russian dips (these SUCKED and I had to do most of them in 2โ€™s!)

The kids joined me on my daily winter ocean dip today ๐Ÿ˜ฏ there was some procrastinating on the sideline by all of us ๐Ÿ˜‚ but we got there eventually!

For those who havenโ€™t been following my insta story I have committed to swimming/having a dip every day for 4 weeks in the ocean. Here is why:
1) Iโ€™m the biggest wimp around cold water and wear a thin wet suit on hot days in summer (Iโ€™m embarrassed to even write this ๐Ÿ˜‚). After a week swimming at 6.30am with some mornings only 5degrees I have already changed what I think is cold! Iโ€™m coping quite well!!!
2) Iโ€™m scared/hate waves. Spending time every day in the water with them rolling in will cure me of this fear
3) People swear by a cold dip 1st thing in the morning to set them up for the day. I want to find out what they are raving about
4) Iโ€™m probably not doing enough Crossfit right now so have energy to burn doing weird things like this ๐Ÿ˜‚
5) I think it good to get out your comfort zone and doing things you donโ€™t like..... I couldnโ€™t be more out of my comfort zone doing this ๐Ÿ˜Š

Love a good workout where no one moves for 10 minutes after ๐Ÿ˜‚
30 minutes bike, ski, assault runner or rower (some of us rotated through some didnโ€™t). Every 2 minutes 7 c2b, 12 push ups, 17 air squats. Some of us wore a weight vests...some didnโ€™t!!
Inspired by @iamkhanporter โ€˜s recently posted workout. Thanks for that Kahn. It sucked...but was great!

I chose light (to look after a knee niggle). All I can say is light and fast = horribly painful + total cardiovascular blow out ๐Ÿ˜ฑ This was round 1. Needless to say I did not hold on to this minute round pace for more than 1 round ๐Ÿ˜‚

Winter morning ocean dip.... it was leg numbingly blue lipped goose pimply kind of nice ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ณ because I hate cold water so much Iโ€™m contemplating having a dip every morning for the next month to toughen me up ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค” could be a good way to start the day right??? ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ
