4 years down, and I’m proud to say that I’ve finally graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Business. Two years at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, and two at Troy University. Now, I’m going to try to get my Real Estate license.
I hadn’t planned on getting a class ring because I have one from high school, and they all look about the same. When I saw @hyo_silver’s collection of class rings, I knew I wanted one. The ring is anything but an ordinary class ring, just like I was anything but the ordinary college student. I didn’t spend my free time partying or hanging out with friends (nothing against it!), I spent it in the woods or on the water, just like I did throughout grade school. I didn’t live on campus, I lived in a tiny house at home and drove 45 minutes to class every morning. As soon as I got out of class, I would go to the gym and go home. As @nicetomeda, my best friend and the best photographer says, “I didn’t get the full college experience” but that’s ok. I’ve had a ton of fun, killed plenty of squirrels, showed up in full camo to class during turkey season, left the woods in time for my 10:30 am class, I even killed an 8 point before class one morning, and grabbed my biggest fish (including a 50lb flathead and a 40lb blue cat) during my time in college. I can’t say I’m going to miss staying up until the early hours of the morning to study and finish term papers, but I can say that I am proud of what I’ve accomplished in luckily only 4 years, and I am proud to say that I finished with a 3.87 GPA (thanks to my B from Advanced Tech 🙄 and deciding to take a B in Multimedia Law for missing the final to go to Kansas last December... Kids, don’t do that! 😂). On one side of my ring, I got “18” for 2018, and in the other I got a “T” for Troy. I almost got a Ruby because it’s my birthstone as well as Troy’s color, but I liked the turquoise so much that I decided to go with it. Plus, my community college’s colors are blue, so that’s close enough 😉 Thank you to everyone who has supported me and held me together over the past 4 years. I couldn’t have done it without my family, my friends, and my boyfriend. I love y’all!
