Almost all our grapes were picked before the wildfires hit. Thanks to @calfire and so many others - we're able to see our 2017 harvest through to completion. #feelinggrateful

Feeling fortunate that we are able to say, as of right now, HFW is ok. Our Estate House is still without power and will remain closed until further notice, but our winemaker John Hamel and his dedicated team have been working very hard, processing our 2017 vintage. We can’t thank @WrightContracting and #PeregrineMobileBottling enough for lending us generators to get the work done.

Our community is still threatened by wildfires as the fight continues. Many have asked how they can help. There are many online organizations including the #SonomaCountyResilienceFund where donations can be made. And when it is safe to do so, please keep Sonoma County top-of-mind as a destination. Our businesses will be needing you more than ever.

It means the world to us to hear from you all. We always knew we were supported by many, but this has really brought that home to each and every one of us. We are still in the thick of things here in real time, but first and foremost, we are all safe and sound.

HFW was “attacked” on three sides by the fire Tuesday night, yesterday and last night. Thanks to the great work of three firefighters in particular, a local general engineering contracting firm volunteering their time (and their bulldozers) and then the firefighter “cavalry” at 1:00 a.m. last night, to date all of our buildings remain untouched by fire. However, we have serious burns on the property, a “new” fire break (that passed the test last night), landscaping issues, some charred and downed vines, etc.—all fixable things in the near and intermediate term.

Unfortunately, we are not in the clear yet—the weather is not cooperating—more wind on its way supposedly, and so we are not declaring “peace with honor” yet. Many of our neighbors, fellow wineries, etc. have experienced much more devastation than we’ve experienced, and so our thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been impacted. It will be a long time before the community gets back to its pre-Sunday night condition, but ours is a determined community, and we have no doubt that it will roar back even stronger than before.

While we are still in the thick of things, it is hard for us to concentrate on much of anything else. We also feel a bit helpless—we’ve taken all of the appropriate precautions, but if the wind kicks up again, all bets are off. Thank you all so much for all of your support. We all are empowered with the knowledge of all the love, positive thoughts, support, etc. coming our way.

We are so appreciative of all the concern and well wishes that have come our way. Yesterday afternoon the fires continued moving directly towards HFW from the mountain above. We have had a single brave firefighter here at the winery throughout the night as the fires burned closer, and we have been doing a family rotation here as well. As of this morning, it looks like the fire has not advanced much over the night, and morning brisk temperatures and mild wind have been working in our favor. Weather reports do call for increased winds this evening however, although not of the magnitude that we experienced in Sunday night. So, the news, subject to change at any time, is cautious optimism regarding HFW and the surrounding vineyards.

Thank you again for all of your interest in our well-being and concern. It is very moving to the entire HFW family. We are all personally safe and our hearts and thoughts are with our surrounding neighbors and friends. To the extent possible, we will keep you updated with any developments—positive or otherwise….

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by today's fires. Stay safe.
