Life is hard. Life is fragile. Some things break before they bend. Take care of the ones you love, but most importantly take care of yourself, because in the end that is all you really have.

Detail from Michael Jones McKean's 'The Ground'

Michael Jones McKean @thecontemporary . Such an incredible show. πŸ•³πŸŒ«

In Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle", Felix, one of the scientists who invented the atomic bomb, plays Cat's Cradle with a piece of string the day the bomb was dropped. In this moment, Felix's total ignorance, indifference, and "innocence" toward the moral responsibility that accompanied his nuclear weapons research becomes clear. Vonnegut demonstrates that these traits, while not inherently evil, are enough to destroy the world when combined with man's technological power. Sheer human stupidity is not only alive and well in the 21st century but armed to the teeth.
