Mom’s passing inspired me to write her a love song. The song is now my lifelong mission with the @bealrightcampaign.
January marks Cervical Cancer Awareness Month in the United States, a month to remember the thousands of women who have battled cervical cancer and to end preventable deaths from the disease.
The “Be Alright Campaign” would like to share some important information on prevention. I urge you to pass this information along to others.
EVERY DAY, at least 12 Filipinas die from cervical cancer despite its being a preventable disease through timely screening and vaccination. The Department of Health (DoH) considers cervical cancer the second leading cancer among women in the Philippines. As such, cervical cancer control is at the forefront of the DoH major priorities through the National Cancer Prevention and Control Program.
Cervical cancer is curable when detected early. Some clinics and hospitals offer free cervical cancer screening for women, while some local health offices offer free HPV vaccines. Otherwise, vaccines can also be taken from a trusted gynecologist's clinic or in authorized pharmacies. Price ranges from P2,000 to P4,000 per shot.
Please take preventative actions if you can. Stay posted on my social media posts for locations and affordable preventative care.
