Homemade yogurt iceblocks = YUM!

Felix has been playing with this geometric, magnetic building toy for (literally) hours today. So awesome to watch him experimenting a developing his skills. Does anyone know what they're called? They have a stylised 'mx' printed on them

50c bubble wands from BigW - easily the best dollar I spent this week ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ‘

After watching many hours of Mister Maker, we finally recreated one of his projects, Straw Panpipes! Total success.

Cali has been very resistant to instruction on the easiest way to write letters and Felix hasn't been particularly interested in learning to write anything beyond his name. I decided to see if being able to use the (new and exciting) iPad would peak their interest. It totally worked.

Here's a pic of today's geography and science lesson.

How did we end up sitting on the kitchen floor watching videos about volcanos? Simple really: I was making myself some toast when Felix and Cali come and tell me that they're playing 'Moana' (Cali is Moana , Felix is Maui). We talk about the movie for a bit and I pull out the iPad to settle a disagreement over a characters name (I thought it was Ne Fiti, Felix thought it was De Fiti, turns out it's Te Fiti). Felix then mentions that lava can't touch water. I explained why that is then asked if they wanted to see it happening. Oh yes they did! So I call up YouTube (still in the middle of making my toast btw) and find a video of lava flowing into the ocean then put the pad on the floor so they can both see it.
During the time it took for me to finish making and eating my breakfast (and take a few photos) we saw volcanic lightning, pyroclastic clouds, and eruptions all around the Pacific, then moved on to tornados and super cells on the American plains (amongst other things). Sitting on the kitchen floor in our pjs, that's what school looks like to us :)

Felix is easily frustrated so it's great to find him independently reading, especially an awesome, detailed, layered book like 'One Odd Old Owl'.

I'm so grateful for the ability to educate our kids at home. Lately we've been discussing different math symbols. This is Cali practising for division sign โž—
