Here's a pic of today's geography and science lesson.
How did we end up sitting on the kitchen floor watching videos about volcanos? Simple really: I was making myself some toast when Felix and Cali come and tell me that they're playing 'Moana' (Cali is Moana , Felix is Maui). We talk about the movie for a bit and I pull out the iPad to settle a disagreement over a characters name (I thought it was Ne Fiti, Felix thought it was De Fiti, turns out it's Te Fiti). Felix then mentions that lava can't touch water. I explained why that is then asked if they wanted to see it happening. Oh yes they did! So I call up YouTube (still in the middle of making my toast btw) and find a video of lava flowing into the ocean then put the pad on the floor so they can both see it.
During the time it took for me to finish making and eating my breakfast (and take a few photos) we saw volcanic lightning, pyroclastic clouds, and eruptions all around the Pacific, then moved on to tornados and super cells on the American plains (amongst other things). Sitting on the kitchen floor in our pjs, that's what school looks like to us :)
