Travelers on U.S. Highway 26/89/191 between Moose and Moran junctions should expect delays this afternoon and evening. Park rangers are using the highway to facilitate the movement of 15-20 wild bison south from areas with deep snow to areas in the park with better forage.

For your safety and that of the bison, please drive carefully and observe instructions from rangers on scene.

Highway 89 between Moose Jct and Moran Jct continues to be closed. Road crews are working to reopen the road, but their efforts have been complicated by a semi-trailer truck that violated the closure last night and became stuck in the drifted snow. Call 307.739.3682 for road status updates.

Please drive slowly in the area north of Snake River Overlook! This morning we worked with Wyoming Game and Fish to move wild bison from private land to areas in the park with better forage. At this point, the bison are still near the road in this area.

During the summer, Jenny Lake is one of the most popular destinations in Grand Teton National Park, hustling and bustling with activity. During the winter however, Jenny Lake is a place of peace and solitude, as it can only be reached by foot travel. It is an 8 mile roundtrip journey to ski or snowshoe to Jenny Lake from the Taggart Lake Trailhead. When traveling in the backcountry it is important to plan ahead and prepare, as you are responsible for your own safety. Winter essentials for any backcountry excursion include: water and a high energy snack food; a first aid kit including a space blanket; multiple layers of clothing; extra clothing, including a hat and gloves; sunscreen and sunglasses; a map, compass, watch or other navigational aid; a flashlight or headlamp; and a ski/snowshoe repair kit. 🌨🎿#mygrandteton #findyourpark

Clear skies and a crescent moon this week made for spectacular night sky viewing. Currently, one third of the earth’s population live in areas where the Milky Way cannot be seen due to light pollution. National Parks help to protect this precious natural resource. Where have you had your most awe inspiring star gazing experience? 💫🌌 #findyourpark #mygrandteton #nightskies

"We simply need that wild country available to us, even if we never do more than drive to its edge and look in. For it can be a means of reassuring ourselves of our sanity as creatures, a part of the geography of hope."-Wallace Stegner

The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found? -J. B. Priestley
