In case you missed it, I wrote a piece about a sexual assault in the freshman honors dorm for the Talisman. Sexual assault is often messy and complicated, and it’s always destructive. It’s often not perpetrated by strangers in bushes; it’s often your good friend.
Reporting this piece (and in particular, speaking to the alleged perpetrator of a sexual assault) has taught me that rape culture isn’t an individual sickness; it’s a cultural sickness. As such, it’s everyone’s responsibility to understand stories like this one.
