Sailing blossom 🌸

Carolyn got in touch with me back in April, after we had just installed a cotton-centric arrangement at Forty-five Downstairs for Ally and Pat (scroll back in my instagram and you'll find it). Carolyn was so complimentary about the arrangement, and so excited by the floral possibilities for her and Matthew's wedding yesterday that we just 'clicked' and I couldn't wait to design something! Often I only have a vague idea about what it is that we're going to create on the day. So much about my process is using the seasonal raw materials to create something that just 'feels right' in the moment so even I'm surprised by the final reveal. So it was most excellent to have Carolyn and Matthew's trust and free reign!
Yesterday's vague idea included these rich sunset vibes in waratahs, giant poppies and ranunculi captured by the magnificent @goldandgrit. Check out my stories to see the installations for the ceremony and reception which couldn't have happened without @katie_burgham, @chowvan and @the.chroma.studio, who were up and down ladders all day. As well as the enormous effort from the other wonderful people involved including Andy from @fortyfivedownstairs, the teams from @gooddayrentals_vintage and @eddixonfooddesign, @marrymedee, @byjenamarie and @georgiayoungcouture. πŸ’žπŸ€—

Today's outfit is boronia. 🌺 And yes I'm an excited little florist because I'm holding two buckets worth and I have eight. πŸ€―πŸŽ‰ #happyplace #smellsdelish

"Just living is not enough ... one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower." - Hans Christian Andersen.

Looking forward to installing at @fortyfivedownstairs again next week. Such a fantastic venue with very lovely and helpful staff that made bump-in and -out stress-free and smooth. Ally (@alessandra__smith) and Pat's wedding was creative and memorable, made possible with help from flower extraordinaires @katie_burgham, @chowvan, @the.chroma.studio and @rachelpolivkastylist! And of course this beautiful photo by @longwayhomephotography also shows the talents of @eddixonfooddesign and @tablearteventhire. Not to mention the other event and wedding profeshs who shaped the day in their own way, such as @damonhughescelebrant, @tobimusiclive, @boutiquecakeart, just to name a few. Even the bride's artistic mum @ondioco made the welcome sign! I absolutely wanted to pull up a chair to this table!! #feelingthelove #feelinghungry #whenpaddymetally

Passionfruit and grape vines entwined beneath an oh-so-soft canopy πŸˆπŸƒ

We moved house nearly three months ago and were so very lucky to inherit an amazing garden with it, thanks to Paul's greenthumb parents who previously owned the place. πŸ’šπŸŒΏ We're the fourth generation to live in this house and garden, the house having been built by Paul's great great grandfather. Of course I'm in the bushes any chance I get and hope my own thumbs become as green as the generations before us so I can keep filling vases with flowers as beautiful as these. 😍 #happyplace #floristholdingflowers

A billy button, anyone? Take one and pass the bowl around. πŸ˜‰πŸŒΎ

Bracken by @goldandgrit, and it's perfect. This photo was taken earlier this year at a wedding in the Great Otway National Park. We gravitate towards like-minded people and it's no different in this industry. Weddings sometimes feel like a catch-up with good friends because I meet the same photographers, cake makers, celebrants, hair and makeup artists and more, time and time again as our like-minded couples choose vendors who have a similar aesthetic and eye. You all know by now that I'm crazy for a dried feathery weed, and apparently so is Stina -- bless her bracken loving lens. πŸŒΎπŸ‚

To think this arrangement started out as separate branches, leaves and flowers, and then suddenly (or many hours and cups of tea later) it became an evocative, ethereal being. Photographed by @itsbeautifulhere and created for @martinibride -- equal lovers of the unusual. 🌱

I wanted to see how far I could push the pussywillow. Turns out, quite far. As far as the eye can see. πŸ‘€
