This is Khayelitsha, one of the biggest and fastest growing townships in South Africa. During our guided walking tour with @fairawaytravel we got an exclusive insight into the daily life and culture of the locals who live here. We met so many good-hearted people, saw their homes and learned a lot about the history of Khayelitsha. This was definitely one of the most impressive experiences I've ever made in my life!
The beautiful painted houses, the cobble streets and little mosques aren’t the only reasons to visit Bo-Kaap. This tiny part of Cape Town is packed full of history and culture, because the people who live here are descended from slaves brought over by the Dutch in the 16th and 17th centuries. They implemented their own culture and became known as Cape Malays. Walking through the streets of Bo-Kaap really helped me to understand why this place is so close to the hearts of so many people across the world 💜
