Missing you already 💔 “In the 50 years since, having finally arrived in Rome, having walked Via Margutta a dozen times, I’ve fallen more widely and deeply in love with it, with its warmth and disorder and mystery, with its fictions and its truths, with the romance of its chaos and decay, with its citizens and its sadness, with its monumentality and indifference to worry, its films and its comic politics and its joyful failures. A city is what it does to you, and Rome defies any attempt by the tourist to describe it—while insisting in every moment that it be described.
Via Margutta is a short street with a long history, three blocks going back 2,000 years. What likely began as an open sewer for the villas and palaces that have come and gone on the Pincian Hill above it is now the most charming little street in Rome. The name likely comes from a sarcasm, an eye-rolling Latin euphemism—“sea drop”—for the foaming pool where the cloacal stream poured down from the backhouses of Rome’s elite. The original buildings were probably stables.
Along the via’s three blocks, Roman street life achieves a languorous charm all its own. A 21st-century Renaissance beauty at a gallery opening. (Francesco Lastrucci)
Now it’s an oasis of quiet set between the teeming Piazza di Spagna and the Piazza del Popolo, in the tourist center of the city below the parks and gardens of the Villa Borghese, the Piazza Bucarest and the Viale di Villa Medici. i. Mostly residential, lined with vining ivy and ocher stucco, cobblestones and window boxes, art galleries and artists’ studios, it is one of the most beautiful streets anywhere.”

[1/2] Below, my most liked photos of 2017, 2016, 2015 and 2014! Thank you very much for all your likes and support!!! I wish you all the best for this new year! 🍾😍☺️🙏🏻 #2017bestnine My 2017 has been challenging yet good. I’ve taken 53 flights, visited 9 countries (and yes, Bangkok is still my favourite grocery shopping destination in SE Asia) and met countless amazing people. I read something like 70 books, watched tons of movies but only 5 series (The Crown, 1993, Suits, 13 and, for the first time, Sex and The City). Sadly, there is no opera houses in Myanmar, so I haven’t had the chance to listen/watch any opera.
In 2017, I learned how to be more diplomatic, to recognise what makes me happy/unhappy, to make compromise and how not to be overwhelmed by successes or failures.
And I learned how to identify good rubies! 😝💎 I’m still learning how to enlarge my comfort zone, and definitely I’m working hard on myself, as γνῶθι σεαυτόν is my all-time motto. In 2017, I have built new, amazing friendships for which I feel very grateful, and I have continued to reinforce the old ones.
I know that “long-distance friendships” are not the easiest thing. So, thank you very much to all my friends who, despite the distance, invest their time to share with me their feelings, happenings and dreams and are ready to listen at mine and support me from far away. I’m happy and proud to call you my friends! There are people that gave me a lot who I lost along the way and still miss frequently, but for the time being I feel comfortable not to have them in my life.
Professionally, I worked on projects I strongly believe in, and had the chance to team with experienced and bright colleagues who taught me a lot.

“Roma sorella quante volte son partito e ritornato
Roma mia madre, occhi tristi che non m’hanno abbandonato
Roma svampita calze a rete, tacchi a spillo e un po’ di vita
Roma ingannata dai suoi tanti amori, dai suoi vecchi fiori”
