After having three kids, we take our dates wherever we can get them (my gift to husband was him not having to be in the picture ๐Ÿ˜‘). Grandma has the kids for the morning so we had breakfast outdoors, cruised the farmer's market, and then road 10 miles along the river together ๐Ÿšด๐Ÿป๐Ÿšด๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ on what I would consider one of the most glorious Fall mornings: crisp, cool, filtered light through the golden trees, happy people out and about getting fresh air and exercise.
Life is so f*cking good if you let it be. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ

My version of 'Girl Gone Wild' // #๐Ÿ•

The other day, my dear friend who's an epic foodie with a nutritionist background, made me and another girlfriend the BEST frittata I've ever had (healthy, good fats, protein-packed, incredible) and she served it with a simple and lovely arugula salad (very European which I loved ๐Ÿ˜) and because I couldn't stop dreaming about it, I recreated my own version for lunch today. All that was missing was good company and fabulous coffee. Frittatas #ftw I tell you. โœจ

Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go. This is an incredible time of year to let go of anything that doesn't serve us (bitterness, resentment, anger, jealousy, fear) so we can make way for new blessings, new opportunities, and new growth. Day #4 no coffee and I don't want to punch anyone in the face today. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป
I've had many people inquire about my reason to give up coffee (I know #๐Ÿ˜ญ) so I thought I would share a few thoughts. I was listening to the incredible functional medicine doctor, Dr. Frank Lipman, talk about addiction and he said the top three legal drug offenders are caffeine (coffee), alcohol, and sugar (nooooooo โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿช๐Ÿฅ) and even though I've always prided myself on NOT being a drug addict, over the past year, I've been realizing my relationship with all three often becomes quickly unbalanced.

Dr. Lipman recommends taking at least a two week break from all three and then if you want to, slowly reintroducing them in a more healthy, balanced way and watching how they make you feel. {Though he does argue white sugar is the devil, highly-addictive, disease-causing, and never needs to be reintroduced ๐Ÿ˜•}. #

The first few days were BRUTAL but today I have renewed energy and focus, my mood and adrenals feel much more in balance, I'm not crashing hard like I usually do, and I crushed my 4 mile run without any extra help โ˜•๏ธ. #
I definitely plan to reintroduce coffee eventually because the love runs deep (most likely decaf or half-caff and a lot less if it) and there's nothing that beats a glass of wine ๐Ÿท and good conversation with my husband or cocktails with my beloved friends and family, but I think stepping back every so often and re-evaluating our relationships with these substances (because that's what they are) is a great idea to keep our health and wellness in balance. I also think it gives us a new appreciation for the delights we take for granted when we over-consume. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป // #foodforthought
