Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend the memorial service for Isaiah Simoa. I didn't have the opportunity to meet Isaiah while he was living, but it was incredible getting to hear about his young life. We sang It is Well as a congregation. It is personally one of my favorite hymns. The story behind that song very much captures what the Simoa family is going through currently. Several of his sisters gave eulogies honoring him. They spoke with such strength and grace and still their faith stood strong. One of them stated, "heaven is closer than ever". How true that is. Isaiah's father, Pastor Monty gave a fantastic message. I couldn't help but be inspired by his family. Mr. and Mrs. Simoa clearly taught their children to love the Lord, and they do, that much is easy to see. Their conduct through this trial has shown the conviction of their faith. We ended by singing Joy to the World as Isaiah's casket was ushered away. I'm glad I was able to attend as a bystander, someone who simply heard of the tragedy and wished to show his support.
To the Simoa Family: Monty, Celeste, Naomi, May, Quincey, Audrey, Anna, Natalie, and Sydney know that myself and many others are praying for strength and grace for you all.
