California, heavy on my heart + mind. Looking back on recent #35mm film as I prepare to take over @telegramgallery for a week, beginning tomorrow. I've been so slow to share new work on here... hope you'll follow along there 🙏🏼

Last chance to visit @meadowwilds at Applestock in New Paltz! We'll be here til 4pm. Kingston + Woodstock pals - if you want to get something but can't come thru, DM me... might be able to deliver after ;)

So many things happening upstate this weekend! If you're around, come visit @meadowwilds at Applestock 🍎 10am - 4pm at 92 Huguenot St in New Paltz. I even made some mini bouqs, cuz yall know how I feel about miniatures... #babybouqs 💛 Hope to see you there!

"The world is blue at its edges and in its depths. This blue is the light that got lost. Light at the blue end of the spectrum does not travel the whole distance from the sun to us. It disperses among the molecules of the air, it scatters in water. Water is colorless, shallow water appears to be the color of whatever lies underneath it, but deep water is full of this scattered light, the purer the water the deeper the blue. The sky is blue for the same reason, but the blue at the horizon, the blue of land that seems to be dissolving into the sky, is a deeper, dreamier, melancholy blue, the blue at the farthest reaches of the places where you see for miles, the blue of distance. This light that does not touch us, does not travel the whole distance, the light that gets lost, gives us the beauty of the world, so much of which is in the color blue." #RebeccaSolnit, whose words have filled me with wonder and consoled me for years

"...Since the beginning of history, humanity has modified and scarred the environment to convey some message, and that for our own peace of mind we should learn to differentiate among those wounds inflicted by greed and destructive fury, those that serve to keep us alive, and those which are inspired by a love of order and beauty, in obedience to some divine law." And now, for something different... Shout out to my karaoke partner-in-crime @dremps92 for bringing out the diva in me this summer, and for being such a supportive, compassionate friend. I'm so grateful our paths crossed, even though we very well may have battled each other on the soccer field when we were jus a couple of kiddos with mutual dreams of Motown glory.

And shout out to hostesses @rebeccamarlena + @warmbeercoldbeer for being such rad ladies n making karaoke dreamz come true 💫

I was greeted by so many butterflies + bumblebees while harvesting at @meadowwilds yesterday. Seated between towering zinnias and wilds, even a hummingbird stopped in to check me out, floating in the air just a foot or two in front of me. Moments like these are invaluable to me with the wrath of recent storms (both political + environmental) and the shifting of the seasons unsettling my mind and heart. Sending out love to all who are wrestling with those feelings — those who have been dislocated by climate change, those fearing dislocation by our current administration, those feeling the unease of autumn's arrival and summer's fade. I'm with you 💛

Entre chien et loup. Thank you for this capture on the eve of the solar eclipse, @laurynbellafiore.

I loved this plant's symmetry in the desert light. Does anyone know its name?

Chilopsis linearis • Desert willow during the eclipse • I was stumped on its identification until I recognized its flowers, which resemble the flowers of a family member I met earlier this summer in New York, the catalpa tree. Sure enough, another common name for this plant is desert catalpa. Though it is actually a member of the Bignoniaceae family and not a true willow, desert willow is natural protector against flood and erosion damage. It is an indicator plant, telling us ground water is close to the surface. Its flowers, leaves, and bark can be used in warm poultices and decoctions. It is anti-microbial, extremely anti-fungal (particularly affective in treating Candida), as well as anti-spasmatic (delivering relief for coughs especially). Its flowers produce a natural anti-oxidant, which promotes cardiovascular health and regulates glucose metabolism. Pleased to meet you 🙏🏼
