Gardens and Cottages  A little reflection on this wonderful journey called life...thank God for creating such amazing beauty in everything.

One of the best flowers to grow are zinnias. Absolutely ideal for those in hot climates especially. This lovely beauty is from the fabulous garden of @seedtosnip. I purchased seed a few months ago and haven't yet gotten to plant it. It was a delight to find someone who has! Very difficult to lose interest in the incredible range of colors, sizes and forms of zinnias. Thanks @seedtosnip for posting such a fantastic flower.

๐Ÿ‘‡Ooops, dropped my phone, broke my camera and lost my mind apparently. ๐Ÿ˜ณWrote text below thinking it was in the comments section and now can't figure out how to cut and paste it. ๐Ÿ˜ฎPlease read below ๐Ÿค“๐Ÿ‘‡

California postcard? This was the day I was kidnapped for a day by one of my besties. Took this picture while stuffing my face as we watched the scene below the restaurant in between the palm trees.

This is a new beauty to my garden. Thought it was a type of petunia but I was sooooo wrong. It's a calibrocha or some such plant. Has proven to be a toughy. Has beat the heat and retained these flowers for weeks while remaining gorgeous. Rare and unusual. And here I thought I knew all the plants there was to know...๐Ÿ™Š #ikeepgrowing #thankgodforanotherdayoflearning #prettiness #salmon #color #garden #loveliness

I am convinced, in my other #life, I was a #fish. Drawn to the water like a snail to a cabbage leaf. This day there were at least 4 #sailboats on the #ocean, one speed #boat (doing it's thing totally) and more people in the #water than I could ever imagine. Have to keep reminding myself it's really NOT my #beach. ๐Ÿ™Š #nofilter #thankgod #lovelyday #thebeachrules

Don't you see I'm busy! Please, mom, stopping calling my name. I'm working. #grandmaroaststhebestbones

Where else but #lawless LA would you find a #rainbow ๐ŸŒˆ #lifeguard station? Sunday before July 4th at the #beach was gorgeous! Tons of #people had the same idea. The #ocean was packed and tried to discourage all the activity with violent waves crashing against the shore but you know humans. Few noticed and most tried to allow the ocean to devour them. Loved the #USA ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ flying in the wind on the station. Would have taken a picture of the hot lifeguard but he wouldn't walk out the door. And I know he was hot because they all are. Surfers are some of the finest fellas on the planet ๐Ÿ˜‰.

***Thomspon Seedless Grape Cuttings Giveaway!*** This year the grape vines are extremely productive and incredibly wild. I'll have enough bunches of grapes to share with the squirrels and birds while enjoying several myself. Although it was initially planted to keep out the peeping eyes of a nosy neighbor, it's done more than its job and is now so productive it is taking new paths with vines growing in the total opposite direction,. So, she's getting a good cut. Figured this would be a great time to share cuttings with other home gardeners. If you're interested and live within the US AND you're not in a state that restricts the importation of grape vines, you're welcomed to cuttings for FREE. I'll send two cuttings, about 6 inches in length which should give you a great start for two productive vines. They grow in the ground or a pot without much effort.
Send me a message and I'll tell you how to get your 2 cuttings. You pay your own postage. A SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) is fine. I'll supply the cuttings. It's first come, first served and will post here when all the cuttings are shipped out. I'll make available 10 offers.

Bought a highly anticipated, overly hyped floral book by a flower farmer whose work I thoroughly enjoy. I love flowers ๐ŸŒบ and love books ๐Ÿ“š but really not a lot of drama or hype. Where the two coexist then I expect the book to be REALLY good. When the book arrived everything else had to stop, work and all. Immediately picked up and began barreling through it. Hmmm, I'm going a bit too fast, I thought. Something was missing. Took it at a slower pace then threw the book across the table. ๐Ÿ˜– I was not happy. The quality of the images, printing and the paper were poor and not at all the standard I wanted or expected. The details, well, let's just say they were grossly lacking. Hoped for tidbits of flower farming brilliance. Tricks of the trade. Special notations and even detailed growing instructions. Nothing. Oh, there was data but it was a tad fluffy. Kinda like the same chocolate chip cookie recipe you get on the back of the package of chocolate ๐Ÿซ chips you always get to make cookies. Info that was certainly not extraordinary and not even unusual. And the pictures were grainy and filled with artistic poses of flowers and the author. A few are fine but the entire book? Almost more like a family album rather than a flower book. But, it's my fault. I got caught up in the IG hype. Due diligence would have suggested not to put too much into it but I wanted to believe...irritated, I immediately went to one of my absolute favorites from the coffee table. Yessss, THIS is a quality book with beautiful photographs, beautiful details, elegance, style, grace and amazing design. The kind of book that transports you. FLOWERS by Carolyn Roehm @carolyneroehm is simply unbelievable and is THE book everyone should have who loves flowers. She never disappoints and this one makes you forget you are reading a book. You can smell the flowers and feel the grass beneath your toes it's so good. The other book? Not even worth mentioning, definitely not along side FLOWERS but definitely not even in the same breath. Two completely different universes. ๐Ÿ†yeah, I really do love flowers and books and have high expectations for each. ๐Ÿ™‚
