Between 1925 and 1934, the American Alfred Stieglitz made a series of more than 350 photographs of clouds, which he called Equivalents, images that could be synonymous with his thoughts and feelings. A central figure in the American avant-garde, Stieglitz was fully conscious of the foundational act tied up in such an experience of radical subjectivity. The images are in fact a manifesto of abstraction, achieved by a medium the artistic quality of which he would champion his whole life. With his Graflex camera, Stieglitz got rid of all spatial bearings. Without horizon line, without scale or orientation, he chose the sky as the absolute expression of his interior world. Through the works of ten artists from different generations and from very different backgrounds, we have modestly tried to establish a series of comparisons, using verticality as a common point of reference, in order to attain something always out of reach.

#GalleriaContinua always had very close ties with #France supporting for years projects like “Ola Cuba” currently happening in #Lille through the whole summer working with amazing artists such as #DanielBuren. All these reasons (and many more!) brought the gallery naturally to create the 30,000sqm space dedicated to contemporary art in #LesMoulins back in 2007 !

#OrnaghiPrestinari are part of the beautiful group show ‘Caducita’ opening today at #MIDEC (Museo Internazionale Design Ceramico) !
_
We invite everyone to go see this beautiful exhibition and hope you are having a great #Sunday !
_
Curated by Irene Biolchini in the splendid spaces of the Laveno Mombello museum, ‘Caducita’ is an anthological journey between three different generations of Italian artists working with ceramics and who start from the fragment in an attempt to propose a representation of the self, a narration that always passes from the remnant, from the portion, to propose only partial views. Glimpses through which to reach the whole person.

We are glad to announce the participation of Juan Araujo to “FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art” from July 14 to September 30, 2018.

Opening celebration: Today July 14, 7:30 pm, Euclid Avenue, between Mayfield Road and East 115th Street

It is the first edition and it opens with work by more than 110 artists at 28 venues across Cleveland and in nearby Akron and Oberlin.
“FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art” is an exhibition comprised of artist commissions, performances, films, and public programs.

Juan Araujo was born in 1971 in Caracas, Venezuela. He lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal. Since 1998, Araujo has been dedicated to artistic appropriations. He began by creating paintings which investigated the history of art by reproducing artists’ work found in books, catalogues, and online. From 2004, he has engaged with architectural topics whilst keeping the same basic approach, focusing primarily on private residences built in the mid-twentieth century which exemplify Latin American Modernism; Oscar Niemeyer´s ‘Casa das Canoas’ (1953) in Rio de Janeiro, Lina Bo Bardi´s ‘Casa de Vidro’ (1951) in Sao Paulo, and the Luis Barragán house (1948) in Mexico City.

Before arriving in #China for the Pingayo Sculpture Festival #GiovanniOzzola is in #Malaga for the inauguration of a new solo exhibition “Mi verdad con su tiempo y espacio” at Museum Unicaja Joaquin Peinado !

Giovanni Ozzola is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in photography, as well as video and sculptural installation. Ozzola’s practice demonstrates a deep sensitivity towards the phenomenon of light and its various physical characteristics. His main thematic interests lie in conceptualising and representing infinitude and exploration, both geographical and introspective.

We would like to wish a very #HappyBirthday to Columbian artist #JoseAntonioSuarezLondono !

José Antonio Suárez Londoño favours the intimate format of notebooks. In any case, his works never exceed the size of an A4 sheet. In 1997, he completed his first notebook and dedicated it to a book by Brian Eno, A Year with Swollen Appendices. Every day for an entire year, Suárez Londoño made a drawing and translated into images the diary of the British musician and composer. Year after year, this was followed by other notebooks dedicated to the most diverse personages: from Paul Klee, Edgar Degas, Vincent Van Gogh, Rembrandt Van Rijin to Rainer Maria Rilke and Rimbaud, from Patty Smith to actor and playwright Sam Shepard, from Catalan philosopher Raimundo Paniker to W.G. Selbald and many writers of the Beat Generation.

Our dear Lorenzo and Maurizio together with DanielBuren and #AnishKapoor in #SanGimignagno during the preparation of the four-hand exhibition of the two artists! #tbt
_
For the first time ever reunited in a four-hand exhibition entitled 'Daniel Buren & Anish Kapoor', #GalleriaContinua pays tribute to two of the most significant figures of the international art scene – artists whose work has had an enduring impact on art from the 20th to the 21st century. The exhibition sees the first collaboration between #DanielBuren and #AnishKapoor in the creation of a joint composition. The gallery itinerary is structured as a dialogue between the works of the two artists, and culminates in the work site specific, located in the stalls of this former cinema and theatre. An installation of large dimensions, jointly planned, which completely reconfigures the space and creates unexpected visual interferences, it challenges us to explore the inaccessible

The work of Giovanni Ozzola demonstrates the irrefutable signs of his endless research and observation. The importance of light, its presence or absence, as it reveals and hides landscapes, objects and (more rarely) people, enlightening the uniqueness of every instant. In his favourite subjects we recognize recurrent and cyclical themes: Time, Nature, and the furtive intervention of human beings; doors and windows, broken walls and cracks that open up to the view of a perfect intimidating seascape or the undulating motion of the desert. Sceneries at the mercy of temporary and transitory climates, such as: a sunset, a distant storm, the imminent approach of the night, and calima.
