We couldn’t think of a better day then Mother’s Day to complete the Old Curiosity trilogy.
The beautiful calming purple tones of the Lavender & Echinacea are quite simply enchanting, a perfect Sunday serve.
In 2012 Co-Founder Hamish Martin and his wife Liberty purchased a plot of land just outside of Edinburgh and began planning a ‘Secret Herb Garden’. In 2016 Steve Ross, Co-Founder 2 joined the Secret Herb Garden as a volunteer and there began the magic of Old Curiosity.
The ‘Secret Herb Garden’ is absolutely the inspiration and at the heart of this incredibly special range of gins. Each gin has its own character and is unique. The one thing that all the gins in the range have in common is that they all change colour (from natural properties!) Lavender & Echinacea are best known for their healing and soothing properties and not necessarily as a botanical in gin however it works.
The scent as you would expect is lavender, however there are layers of pine and citrus as well.
To taste, we used Schweppes light tonic and garnished simply with lemon and edible flowers (now in season so stock up!). When the tonic was added it changed colour from deep purple to a light purple with pink tones.
It has a beautifully complex flavour, light floral flavour first off with a refreshing citrus burst. It is creamy & smooth with a crisp finish. A real taste sensation.
We have thoroughly enjoyed each of the gins in the Old Curiosity range. Such care, thought and craftsmanship has gone into each gin, we can’t wait to see what they do next.
We raise a glass to you all, especially those celebrating Mother’s Day and hope that there is a sizeable Gin in hand. ❤️ @oldcuriosity @schweppes #thegintomytonic
